Joanna Jones, 39, was flying to London from Antigua when her 14-year-old daughter Poppy needed oxygen and two EpiPen shots during the nightmare eight-hour flight after suffering a severe reaction to the nuts.
As Poppy's condition worsened, a quick-thinking nurse on board dashed to help - while the captain considered making an emergency landing.
Eventually the pilot landed the plane safely at Gatwick and Poppy was rushed to hospital.
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Joanna said: ’It was a nightmare for all of us and I really thought she might die.

This girl should stay at least 100 feet away from Jimmy Carter... though I consider that good advice for everyone.
Then I would expect that such afflicted individuals would take care to protect themselves as opposed to appearing in public without any protection whatsoever and simply announce that all within range must comply with their request.
An epipen is not a sure fire cure
You are ignorant about a severe allergic response. Anaphylactic shock is real
Exactly my thinking. This is *their* danger, they need to take whatever steps are necessary to protect themselves no matter what anyone else does.
THANK you.
If I told someone to stop a certain behavior on a flight because their actions could cause harm or death to someone, you can bet I would have LE waiting and would follow through with filing every single complaint to any and every agency I could - FAA, local police and my union.
And to read that they were asking if anyone knew who the person was????!!!! They have his seat number and copies of his ID so they CAN figure it out.
Is this real?? Someone eating peanuts 10 rows in front can trigger that reaction? What are they eboli peanuts?
Perhaps you need to just leave this forum. Permanently.
You make a reasonable accommodation. Your kid isn’t going to starve over the course of a flight that lasts a few hours. And if the pilot tells you not to eat peanuts... you don’t eat peanuts. Its called “not being a dick”.
You are insane. Seriously. You have a mental disorder.
I have no comment other than to say it is sad that so many kids have allergies today that never existed in the past as such great numbers. I firmly believe this is due to kids not playing outside as toddlers. Their immune systems are simply not exposed to things that helps them build immunities.
“Considering plane ventilation, I’m not buying it.”
Most airplanes have HEPA filtration, so I think you’re right.
“...chicken pox parties and sleep overs”
Beats an STD sleepover, in case anybody’s wondering.
I do. Nut allergies can be triggered by only a few molecules in the air.
“I’m not saying peanut guy is right. But the mother exposed her daughter to that situation.”
Exactly. If the girl is that extremely sensitive she should have been wearing an N95 mask. What if people were eating peanuts in the airport or walked past a bar where peanuts were served as a bar snack?
You would not have had to deal with any “medical emergencies” on my routes.. Guaranteed! 🤨
“I would not want to go thru life worried about what may happen to me accidently or from the actions of some schmuck.”
The schmuck is the idiot with the allergies who doesn’t take precautions of their own and wants to cry “VICTIM!” all the time.
I totally call BS to this story since peanuts were present on the flight before they flew, while walking through thee airport, etc. They have no proof the guy 10 rows down caused this problem.
This is my thought as well. Even the “peanut dust” type thing requires a certain volume of it in the air to be ingested thereby causing the anaphylaxis.
Personally, I don’t think I would go into anaphylaxis, but in my case I have experienced lesser symptoms from being exposed to particulate, such as hives and my eyes being irritated. Fortunately I was not in a sealed cabin and I could immediately leave the area for fresh air.
However, the passenger is a real jerk for continuing to eat peanuts after being told by the crew not to. Even if I thought the reason was silly, I would have simply put the peanuts away.
You never want to piss off the flight crew on a commercial airplane.
That asshole ought to be charged with reckless endangerment at least.
