Pinkerton did McClellen a great disservice by WAY over reporting the troop numbers here.
Later, when Lee actually DID have more troops than Mac, they didn’t believe it.
The article about Charleston is very interesting. I’ve driven our sailboat through that area from left to right and right to left (in the Intra-Coastal). How they Union thought they were going to drive fleets of boats through there I don’t know. It’s all very shallow.
Some of my favorite bits are on the right in Bulls Bay. It’s still shallow in bits, but, VERY pretty.
