Archaeologists have unearthed the ancient burial of a woman lying on a bronze bed near the city of Kozani in northern Greece. It dates to the first century B.C.
Depictions of mermaids decorate the posts of the bed. The bed also displays an image of a bird holding a snake in its mouth, a symbol of the ancient Greek god Apollo. The woman's head was covered with gold laurel leaves that likely were part of a wreath... The wooden portions of the bed have decomposed.
Gold threads, possibly from embroidery, were found on the woman's hands, Chondrogianni-Metoki said. Additionally, four clay pots and a glass vessel were buried alongside the remains. No other people were buried with her.
Archaeologists are now analyzing the skeleton to determine the woman's health, age when she died and possible cause of death. The artifacts found with her suggest that she likely came from a wealthy background, and may have belonged to a royal family.

You may already have covered this story, but just in case...ping.
More western civilization. Why isn’t it cultural appropriation when Marvel makes the King of Atlantis suddenly Mayan, something from 900-1500 AD instead of Mediterranean or proto Celtic, even Marvel showed him wielding Neptune’s trident for years. Because revisionist historians don’t see that the end of slavery and the freedom and rights of common man evolved from the concepts and philosophy of European society and not the human sacrificial cults of central america doesn’t mean that they should take every opportunity to destroy the society that developed the ethos of human rights they faux extol. The educational system used to teach Latin and Greek as part of the Liberal Arts. Now they just teach hate whitey.
Have one of these too, hopefully I will find out what it s someday.
There is no way out.
Like a log at the bottom of a waterfall roiling over and over in the wash until it is reduced to splinters by the rocks.
Somebody here must read greek. Maybe they can translate it.
from my research it could have been one of the infamous 30 pieces of Silver.
but since only half the people who have touched it died horrible deaths I think that is unlikely.
I use gloves just in case
Been stuck there while kayaking on the gauley once, sucked in for about a minute seemed like an hour, then popped out, makes you appreciate air.
Thanks BenLurkin.
I will wager she was hotness
She looks pretty good for 2100 years
I can only hope that I have that natural look after so many decades....time is so fleeting....
How old does a grave have to be before it’s not grave robbing, but archeology?
/asking for a friend
Some things are just best left to the professionals.
Old enough that there are no living people who care to object. In this case, apparently 2,100 years.
Nice!
