Iowa RKBA Constitutional Amendment on the Ballot for 2022

The Great Seal of Iowa boldly states:

We prize our liberties and our rights we will maintain.

The Iowa Great seal shows a citizen soldier with a musket. In spite of the sentiments on the seal, Iowa is one of only six states where the state constitution does not contain an explicit protection for the right to keep and bear arms. The seal was adopted in 1847. At the time, the right to bear arms was relatively uncontroversial. In the famous Dred Scott decision, Chief Justice Tanney said this, speaking of the rights slaves would have if they were considered to be people:

It would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognised as citizens in any one State of the Union, the right to enter every other State whenever they pleased, singly or in companies, without pass or passport, and without obstruction, to sojourn there as long as they pleased, to go where they pleased at every hour of the day or night without molestation, unless they committed some violation of law for which a white man would be punished; and it would give them the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs, and to keep and carry arms wherever they went.

In the last decade, there have been several attempts to add a state constitutional amendment to protect the right to keep and bear arms in Iowa. A Republican representative explained the requirement for the amendment this way:

“We have found that liberal judges are willing to just take away your right to keep and bear arms, the individual right. This is an attempt to do everything we can to

And although I know little about the Gay State's Constitution (Massachusetts) I'll wager everything I own that Massachusetts is another one of the six.

We must always be mindful that the US Constitution nor any state constitution endows or creates any right. Rather, our rights are inherently and innately ours without regards to any government act or provision.

Neither is it [the right to keep and bear arms] in any manner dependent upon that instrument [the Constitution] for its existence.”Cruikshank v. US

We are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights..... And, they are ours to keep.

Colorado has one, but we’re still run by a bunch of commies thanks to vote fraud.

You are wrong!
Give me all you have:
From the NRA web page.
Mass constitution:

The people have a right to keep and bear arms for the common defense. And as, in time of peace, armies are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be maintained without the consent of the legislature, and the military power shall always be held in an exact subordination to the civil authority, and be governed by it.”

In 2016 SCOTUS decided a case called "Caetano v Massachusetts".It was a 2nd Amendment case in which Caetano was convicted of some weapons offense in state court,She appealed...on 2nd Amendment grounds...and the case went all the way up to the state's Supreme Court which ruled that her 2nd Amendment rights hadn't been violated.

SCOTUS took the case and ruled...9-0 (how often do you see *that*?)...that her rights *had* been violated and that the argument that the state's Supreme Court made in claiming that her rights *weren't* violated was "frivolous".

That'll give you an idea of what legislators...and judges...think of the 2nd Amendment here in The Gay State!

And BTW...here in Massachusetts there's no need for voter fraud,Maoists routinely win elections without the need to cheat.Case in point: the state's Attorney General,a filthy bull dyke,is running for Governor. This whore, during the riots of Summer 2020 said "Yes,America is in flames.but that's how forests grow". This whore *will* win...without question! And she won't have to cheat either!

Sad,isn't it!

Hmmm...that makes “Caetano v Massachusetts” (as mentioned in Post #6) all the more curious!

The words on paper have no power. Legislatures and judges have demonstrated that literally hundreds of times, and we live under rulers and actions that are afoul of the constitution.

It takes both words on paper and credible threat of noncompliance in order to keep balance. The government is demonstrating its will to be non-compliant, and the people are falling right in line lest they be mowed down by the king’s goons.

Well, Massachusetts used to be free state!
I guess the constitution comes from that time.

Like in Soviet Union, the constitution is an empty word for some.
