And when the EVs prove to be a non solution, those jobs will disappear.
Ford will flare brightly, go broke and disappear. the will never see a profit on this huge, catastrophic investment in EVs.
I hope I get through this life without ever charging a stupid EV...but it’s not looking good.
Mustangs, Rangers, and electric vans.
All union jobs....that’ll add what...about 15% to the price of one of these vehicles?
That’s funny. My brother in law just got let go in a reorganization after 30plus years as an engineer at Ford.
here we go again ....remmember how well the k-car saved unions, and how that letter k was married with the word rap?
of course, there is no money for tesla.
In three STRONG union states. Thanks Biden and Ford.
EVs are a solution looking for a problem.
Just as long as the jobs aren’t going to China.
If you read between the lines in the article, EV production is not the dominant reason for the hiring.
If ICE engines were on such a decline, they’d just move current workers to EV plants. Instead they’re hiring new workers. (Oh, and if EV was so simple to make, why the need for more workers?)
Logic says Ford realizes it needs to continue to invest in and build ICE engines.
Creating new job positions and finding willing workers to fill them are two different things.
Ford must be doing well if they can drop that amount of cash on EV research and production. Of course they may just be making promises hoping to keep the commies in WDC off their backs. When the political winds shift, I also expect the interest in EVs by most auto makers to wane.
The Lightning (the Electric F150) looks like a winner. The Mach E is nice, test drove it. Still need to see how the Lightning tows.
