Ford will add 6,200 factory jobs in Michigan, Missouri and Ohio as it prepares to build more electric vehicles and roll out two redesigned combustion-engine models.
The company says it will invest $3.7 billion in the three states between now and 2026. It also will convert about 3,000 temporary workers to full-time status with pay raises and benefits.

Tim Ryan, OH will claim this for his Senate bid.
JD Vance, where are you? I guess you do want to lose.
Fixed it.
60K for an inferior product.
After the initial excitement, IMHO people who use the F 150 for commercial purposes or long recreational/ camping trips will not want the EV version. Not only will recharging be a huge handicap but it is highly doubtful that these vehicles will hold up beyond 60-80,000 miles. Owners of these trucks expect to get 150,000-200,000 miles on these vehicles. EVs will be a niche market unless people are absolutely coerced. May be wrong but doubt it. Unless the Democrats stay in power, Ford will go down hard.
Ford must be doing well if they can drop that amount of cash on EV research and production. Of course they may just be making promises hoping to keep the commies in WDC off their backs. When the political winds shift, I also expect the interest in EVs by most auto makers to wane.
Hear ya, but the tech is evolving in cool ways. My F150 has a 2.7 twin turbo v6 that puts out 325 horses and 375 foot pounds at 3,000 RPM. Yeah, the V8 would be my first choice... but I’m getting the same gas mileage as the Mustang it replaced.
Right, to get a V-8 will you have to trade in your house and one of your kids. Even a V-6 is an endangered species and the turbo comes at a price. Using premium gas is pretty much a must so it’s going to cost you but good luck finding a car without it.
“In five minutes I can get enough gas for 500 miles.”
Total time is longer. Think about how much time you would save by ‘refueling’ at home.
“but it is highly doubtful that these vehicles will hold up beyond 60-80,000 miles”
That is pure anti-EV hogwash.
“Ford must be doing well if they can drop that amount of cash on EV research and production.”
Read the article.
100,000 house fires later ford declares bankruptcy. Lol.
“Using premium gas is pretty much a must “
His 2.7 turbo uses 87 octane.
OK. Time will tell. But those lithium batteries will have to obey the laws of physics and stay dry.
The Lightning (the Electric F150) looks like a winner. The Mach E is nice, test drove it. Still need to see how the Lightning tows.
“OK. Time will tell. But those lithium batteries will have to obey the laws of physics and stay dry”
The batteries are ‘wet’ containing a liquid electrolyte.
I’ve talked to people who know and at the very least you have to rotate mid grade with premium or the turbos clog and more.
If the casing cracks after some hard off road pounding with a heavy load in a F-150, do you really think that battery would hold up if water begins to reach into the casing. Also do you park your EV and charge it in a garage attached to your home?
“I’ve talked to people who know and at the very least you have to rotate mid grade with premium or the turbos clog and more.
ROTFLMAO!
No they won't, they're simply complying with Biden's Executive order mandating that 50% of all new vehicles sold in the US by 2030 must be electric......
That's the forgotten back story on his attack on the oil industry that is resulting in record prices in gas and diesel.......
“after some hard off road pounding”
Not designed for that market.
