A North Carolina preschool teacher has resigned following backlash over her unauthorized use of LGBTQ-themed flashcards, which included images of a pregnant man.
The identity of the teacher, who is believed to be a woman, has not been revealed by the Wake County Public School System.
The teacher left her role at Ballentine Elementary School in Fuquay-Varina on Friday, according to Lisa Luten, a district spokeswoman.
Some parents and social media critics pushed for the teacher to be fired, but a student-parent in the special-needs preschool class backed the teacher's move.
'She is an amazing teacher who has worked tirelessly in an unpredictable school year to provide a safe, loving and inclusive classroom for our children to grow,' Jackie Milazzo told the Charlotte Observer last week.
The news broke out on Friday after a constituent of State Representative Erin Pare contacted the Republican about the cards.
Paré then contacted the principal of the school to see if she was aware of the use of the teacher's decision to showcase LGBTQ relationships and the Pride Flag to teach three and four-year-old children about colors.
The cards are made by a now-defunct company called ByUs Box, which also made sets of flash cards showcasing non-binary and transgender animals, gender neutral nursery rhymes and a 'Blackness Collection.'
The company was created by two women who said they were inspired by the murder of George Floyd.
North Carolina Speaker of the House Tim Moore and Paré say that Principal Lutashia Dove - who was unaware they were being used - verified that the teacher had been using the cards outside the approved curriculum.

Jackie, dear, if this teacher is normalizing trans anything to this children, she is destroying their moral compass. Do you even care?
Her name needs to be publicized far and wide.
Or do we send abusers to other districts and jobs and keep in silent??
I would love to know what Ms. Milazzo does for a living, because I suspect that may have something to do with her statement of support.
The school system is not publishing it however people whose children who were in the classroom know and can tell. One call to the daily mail !

If the teacher were leading the class in prayer the identity would be out there loud and clear and he would be doxxed mercilessly.

Interesting that a “special needs” person would protect a deviant. Outrageous that this person would be dictating personnel decisions for the district.
