THE entire city of Wadena was under a shelter in place order as hazardous materials burned at Minnesota Valley Irrigation.
The building has since been deemed a total loss after the Wadena Fire Department issued a warning for all residents in the Minnesota city to stay inside as the fire raged.
The shelter in place was lifted around 6.20pm local time.
The fire reportedly broke out at 3pm local time.
Emergency responders on the scene were briefly evacuated around 6pm due to a tornado warning, taking refuge at the Wadena County Courthouse, according to the Wadena Fire Department.
When crews returned to the scene, the building was deemed a total loss.
The fire department initially warned, "We are on a working fire and there is hazardous materials. Please shelter in place."
Residents in need of shelter were urged to go to the Wadena-Deer Creek High School safe room.
Residents are encouraged to avoid the vicinity of the fire as crews remain on the scene.
The fire remains under investigation.

Depends how old the building was. Lots of older buildings don’t have fire sprinklers.
If you manufacture sprinklers, you wouldn’t think a building code would be necessary to motivate you to protect your business.
Yep.
5.56mm
I guess that would make sense if you manufactured fire sprinklers, but I read this as they’re manufacturing irrigation piping which might include irrigation sprinklers— an entirely different thing from fire sprinklers. It would indeed be ironic for a fire sprinkler company of any kind to burn down.
“These places are essentially part of our infrastructure and it sure feels like it is being taken out.”
After election 2020 and the Covid debacle, I can see where (too many of you) are buying into this “food production conspiracy”.
BUT, ITS NUTS!
And YOU PEOPLE attack Alex Jones?
When sprinklers are properly designed to match the fuel load they can usually contain a fire. When you have a massive fuel load like ABS or plastic pipe and it is stacked the water from a sprinkler may not reach a fire underneath. It is also easy for a large fuel load fire (like this one apparently) to overwhelm a common sprinkler system.
Plastic pipes are not easily ignited but once they do they melt and create a very intense and noxious fire.
The megalopolis of Wadena, Minnesota.
The population of Wadena was 4,325 at the 2020 census.
CITY?
It makes the “City of EVIL” (Ithaca, NY) a metropolis (it is NOT) by comparison.
“Ithaca, New York Population 2022. Ithaca is a city located in Tompkins County New York. With a 2020 population of 31,371”
Isn’t Wadena the town that was wrecked by an E5 in the movie Twister?
Wakita, OK.
Ah, thanks.
Very close memory, though! Very close.

I see that the movie “Twister” was based on Oklahoma, but did find a three-part documentary (Discovery channel) following storm chasers that concludes with them in a big tornado in Wadena.
Probably using Willy Peter as an accelerant to make sure the destruction is thorough and complete.
