Kansas City police shot a black woman who was reportedly pregnant multiple times as they searched for a stolen vehicle on Friday.
Authorities say officers in two cars were following up on a call about an armed carjacking just before 8pm on Friday, after dispatchers provided the officers with a description of the vehicle and license plate.
The officers then apparently spotted the vehicle with two suspects inside at the parking lot of a Family Dollar store at Sixth and Prospect Avenues in Kansas City, and approached it.
At that point, authorities say, the male driver fled northeast as two officers pursued, and 26-year-old Leonna Hale stepped out of the car and allegedly told officers there was a gun in the car.
Two officers proceeded to fire at Hale, authorities say, and she suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital - where she is reportedly in stable condition.
Video taken by a witness nearby showed her lying on the ground in a pool of blood as more officers arrived on the scene - and one handcuffed her.
The woman who took the video, who only identified herself as Shedanja to the Kansas City Star, said Hale had her hands up and informed the officers at the scene that she was pregnant before they shot.
The male suspect, who has not yet been named, meanwhile, was also brought to a local hospital for an unrelated medical issue, KCTV reports.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is now investigating the shooting, as it is protocol for an outside agency to investigate officer-involved shootings and, FOX 4 reports, the two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.

LEO blows it again. Almost looks like part of a plan. Let brown children be murdered then shoot a browner skinned woman outside the car, who was a car jacking suspect who had a gun in the car
Motto of the story: Don’t be black or pregnant.
burn, baby, burn
Democrats: This is not a good time for a riot. We are doing gun control now
Where was her brother Hedanya born?
Exactly what I was thinking, hands up, don’t shoot, I have multiple pregnancies.
Were they all black? What the hell are schools teaching children about police? People who cannot or will not follow the orders of law enforcement end badly for all involved these days.
So if blacks can’t be law abiding how do the democrats think law gun owners will respond if they knock on a door to take them? More of the same on a national scale.
Dumb comment, pregnant women are just as dangerous as non pregnant women. They earn a few rounds the same way anyone else does. They threaten the lives of the innocent.
Riots soon.
Dumb comment or dumb, cowardly cops? I think more the latter.
Certainly not around police.
I agree, There is too much unexplained in this story to judge anyone involved.
Yah a lot of missing information.🤔
Was she a carjacking victim or participant?
Sound like the “news” wants another George Floyd for the 2022 election.
Its dumb on 2 counts, 1) that the cops shouldn’t shot pregnant women, 2) based on a news story you already havr made up your mind the cops were wrong shooting a car jacker. 3) extra credit, Suspect doesn’t cut it when a person is in a stolen car reaching for a gun, ignoring a leo’s command to put your hands up.
Face it Ikeon, cops are only as good as the politicians running them and America has been cursed with an abundance of self-seeking cowards and criminal communists. We need to elect politicians who will actually clean our streets and governments of criminals.
Every police officer in Uvalde should be fired immediately.
HA!
I just look stupidly at folks that caint talk right yall. I aing got enuf cents to take my 5 yeraold and 8 year old kids away from the carnage so they gotta watch it all while I record.
