A UK man died as a result of blood clots two weeks after receiving an AstraZeneca jab, which he may have refused had he been given updated info on the risks, an inquest heard this week.
Redditch resident and automotive design graduate Jack Hurn, 26, received AstraZeneca’s Covid vaccine on May 29, 2021, after being told there were no Pfizer jabs in stock.
Within days, Hurn began suffering headaches and had to undergo emergency surgery at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
After Hurn’s death on June 11, doctors informed his family he’d sustained numerous “catastrophic” blood clots in his brain.
According to area coroner Emma Brown, Hurn was “told the risk was 1 in 250,000,” however, experts say the actual risk of blood clots is closer to 1 in 100,000.
“There can be no doubt that he took that on board,” Brown told the Birmingham Coroner’s Court.
In fact, the UK government’s Joint Committee in Vaccines and Immunization was already recommending “that adults under 40 without underlying conditions be offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine,” the coroner said.
Ultimately, “Jack was not given all of the information to make an informed choice,” she said.
“In particular the risk of complications for his age group was understated,” she added.

These COVID vaccines enjoy no more liability protection than any other vaccines. This liability protection is based upon laws passed in the 1980’s to protect vaccine makers so that they could continue to provide vaccines that have saved millions of lives.
What’s disgusting is that the risk isn’t one-in-anything. It’s a 100% guarantee that some sort of clot event will happen anytime is the next six or so years. As soon as that graphene oxide carrier starts dissolving it’s all downhill.
and “headaches within days” probably means they hit a vein with the injection. And they are supposed to make sure they don’t do that by first withdrawing the needle part way to check for blood.
As time goes on, my understanding of English and its usage grows increasingly inadequate. I understand one can be misinformed and more recently, disinformed but how does one become "uninformed"?
It's easy to start out uninformed, which is synonymous with ignorant but can one be informed at the outset and then taken somewhere to be uninformed?
This poor fellow perished after being uninformed; who uninformed him? How did they uninform the sat lad? Seems to me he might have been saved with an injection of semantics followed by a booster shot of syntax.
