A 10-year-old in Florida was arrested Saturday after allegedly sending a text message threatening to shoot up his school.

The arrest of Daniel Issac Marquez comes just five days after 19 children and two teachers were slain at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, by deranged gunman Salvador Ramos, 18.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Marquez is a 5th grade student at Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral, Florida.

After being interviewed by authorities, Marquez was charged with making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in the statement: 'This student’s behavior is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas.

'Making sure our children are safe is paramount. We will have law and order in our schools! My team didn’t hesitate one second…NOT ONE SECOND, to investigate this threat.'

The incident is being investigated by the The School Threat Enforcement Team and the Youth Services Criminal Investigations Division.

The sheriff continued saying: 'Right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny. This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.'

Gee, now they’re paying attention to this stuff. But 10 years old? How ridiculous. It will last for a few weeks and then it’s back to “normal”.

Hard to know how real this is with this kid. If the police acted on every time I said: “Who ate my special ice cream?!! I’m going to kill you guy’s.”, I’d now be serving at least 25 concurrent sentences for making terroristic threats.

As a reminder many of the kids involved in these events are known wolfs, Uvalde was not an outlier on this. The Parkland kid is a prime example of another. He was a problem that was ignored for years for political correctness reasons. Leftist dogma and bad policy got the Parkland kids killed, and those policies are still in effect in many places nationwide. Thanks Obama!

Taking action on many of these kids is going to take going up against Leftist shibboleths and smashing them.

I think this is related to kids' complete immersion in social media. This kid is "acting out", crying for attention, which most kids do at one time or another, but now they can do it on a world-wide stage, and get themselves in a world of trouble. Pathetic. I remember watching my kids do it, but "B.I." (Before Internet) it stayed in the home, and they grew out of it with no lasting effects. Of course, I was there to manage it, while so many boys have no father in the home.

At age ten my friends and I were collecting baseball cards and popping wheelies on our bikes. Now they TikTok and see hard core porn. Things are bad and the left will make them worse.

all these school shootings are probably kids with mental issues spun up and put on a path that leads them to do the shooting.

by the FBI.

At that age we used baseball cards and clothes pins to make our bikes sound like motorcycles.

Good, scare the little bastard shitless. Maybe he won’t grow up to be a real jerk. Maybe his friends will take a lesson.

At the age of ten, my father, my teacher, and my principal all had the green light to wail on my @$$ if I was really out of line.

I tended towards fishing myself.

It was a written threat. I doubt that the kid would have had the capacity to carry it out, and maybe he meant it as a “joke”…but I think he’s learned that it’s not very funny.

However, the article say they interviewed him and found there was enough to it o arrest him and thus be able to refer him for treatment.

He’s a juvenile, so if he has a record it will be erased. In the meantime, it gives them a chance to deal with him. Even if it was his idea of a joke, this shows him tat it’s not funny and will probably present other comedians from doing the same later on.

Btw, virtually all of the school killers had been making public threats for years but nobody in a position of responsibly (parents, teachers, even older students) did anything about it until too late.

Disagree...a threat from a ten year old needs to be stopped in it’s tracks. You don’t put him in a penitentiary but you CAN and SHOULD scare the HELL out of him! Some behavior, even at 10 is NOT ACCEPTABLE in our society...LEARN THAT EARLY!

Agree on the major premise, but as to means to attaining the end, I prefer what was used in my own culture. See post 12.

The pattern is to occassionally make an example. I tracked a bomb-threat case a few years back. Kid was taken from home, relocatred to a federal camp 1000 miles away, and the fmaily was broken by the government. This is control by making an example. Once the government decides you are to be an example, well, you know the gig.

There are literally thousands of events per example. The laws are applied extremely unevenly. You see this in everyday life with speeding tickets.

Spank your child before they grow too big and you have to punch them, or the cops have to taze them and they get put in handcuffs.

I can tell if a kid is going bad by the behavior, by time they are 5-6. If the kid acts like a kid doing dumb kid stuff but stops when an adult speaks or not.

Some dont straighten out until they meet someone who takes an interest in them when they are teens. I saw it in the boy scouts. A kid on the line was encouraged to make better decisions, made friends, learned to take care of himself and watch out for others.

Spent less time getting into trouble and more time hanging out with good people, preferred learning how to camp over how to set the neighbor's garage on fire. Almost all of them were single parent boys. Mom was not able to handle them. .
