The fraternities at my alma mater were generally the usual “preppers(Kappa Sig) and stoners(Sig Ep)”. The Lambda Chi’s all had blonde hair and blue eyes except the black guy.
I later went to another school and joined the zoo fraternity, mostly because the school was 65% women. It was a bunch of fun considering I was a “late bloomer” due to the Aspergers. The beer distributor gave us a 2 tap cooler and we were on their regular route. Our happy hour was so big, a bar bought us out. Our end of the year party went through 36 kegs.
I was an advisor to a fraternity where I work. They had to hide the parties from us but I did overhear that were going to have 2 kegs at the biggest one. Oooohhh...

We didn’t haze but we had one member who struck a couple of people waiting for the ritual. Someone informed him that he had slapped “Mad Dog” and that Mad Dog would be waiting for him at the house. I never saw the guy at the house again because Bobby Lee was waiting on him.

I pledged a local which made Animal House seem like a documentary,

Date in a shopping cart: check!

Booze beyond belief: check!

Things which wouldn’t be believed today: check!

Reportedly the fawn liebowitz scene was based on a real life incident in which during his college days, animal house writer chris miller used the death of a fraternity girl in order to score a date with a friend of the deceased

Absolutely true, I think most fraternities back in the late 70’s when I was in one had similar stories.

Parties all the time, drunken behavior, little sisters, sorority girls, etc....it was all in good fun but would be strictly forbidden in today’s world.

....where plumbing was installed to flow beer from kitchen faucets at parties and events....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, in 1958 a few engineering students from the University of Waterloo pulled their own ‘beer caper’....
we might have but I’m not familiar with the term haul outs, we might have called it something else.
“Always liked “Shamma Lamma Ding Dong””
This song was actually put out on a 45 rpm by John Cougar Mellencamp back in the day as a ‘B’ side. He did a really fine job covering it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-45HVqSCrOs
Actives grabbed pledges off the street weekdays if they didn’t have a test the next day and dumped them up to twenty miles from school.
Ditto pledges. Had to catch two for the trip.
You could fight until you got shoved into the car.
Good to see that you worked through that. Not all who are affected are able to.
The key is to not indulge it. Our pastor’s kid has it and he is never without some form of electronic device to entertain him. That should have stopped before he turned 30 IMHO.
The way you get Aspies to become more like “normies” is to practice, practice, practice. I work in a building full of them which is why we have a Mortal Combat arcade game in the break room. All of us were forced to socialize.
