Trump the Champion or Trump the Leader

Posted on 05/26/2022 12:15:56 PM PDT by 2manydegrees

I have been conservative in my politics for years--maybe the outcomes of the Reagan foreign policy pushed me that way; Or maybe, my experience working with social work clients.

In any case, my political affiliation is a long-term thing. Reagan, Gingrich, the tea party, Trump have all been major players in my feelings about elections.

Donald Trump has been a great champion for my side in the political arena. A lot of other people must agree with me if we are to judge by the results of the Republican primaries.

The national media seem to believe that my politics follows from my affection for Trump. By this odd thought, I am conservative because I like Donald Trump. I became MAGA in 2016, they seem to think.

In the unbalanced world of this kind of thinking, a primary win by one candidate, a loss by another, is about my fellow conservatives' feelings for Donald Trump.

Somehow, a long-term, stable, relatively consistent political orientation is rewritten as a phenomenon of political leadership.

Trump has been a great champion for my causes, and has been an effective leader. There are now other champions, and in the future there will be other leaders. I had been voting for years before Trump stepped to the front. I will still vote when he steps back. When I can no longer vote, other voters will have other champions. A Republican primary win for one or another politician is not the point.

They claimed the same thing about Reagan in '84, that he was a "kindly grandfather" figure.

A Republican primary win for one or another politician is not the point.

Oh but it is, because Republican does not always equate to conservative. So, I am upset when a conservative loses to a RINO (moderate). Conversely, I am excited when a conservative beats a RINO (moderate).

I too have been a conservative my whole voting life, and I was even one before I started voting. I have come to see a stark difference between the RINO (moderate) and the true conservative. The true conservative has a true conviction for conservatism, whereas the RINO (moderate) does not, and thus caves rather than fights because he has no conviction towards conservative beliefs.

The RINO (moderate) is what is destroying this nation right along with their supposed opposition on the opposite side of the aisle.

“I have been conservative in my politics for years - there are now other champions”

It’s his if he wants it, in a cake walk.
DeSantis jumps in, and Florida will be a battle to hold.

I don’t support our PDJT the GOAT because he is a Role Model of Morality/Republican/Conservative/Right To Life, because he isn’t that.

He’s an American, and loves this great country.
And will fight like hell to MAGA.
That’s why.
Few other politicans can offer the same.

Roll MAGA, roll!

He’s both. I know somebody who worked for him in the 80s and 90s. She said he was tough but he always gave high praise, recognition, reward, and support to everyone who did their job well. He was also forgiving if he knew your intentions were right. Excuses were rejected and laziness not tolerated. Her words, not mine.

Those two aren’t mutually exclusive ya’ know? He could be a champion and a leader.

A third option: Trump returning to Washington with the Herculean task of cleaning out the Aegean stables, aka, the swamp.

By now there should be a list of thousands of federal employees at all levels, who gave up on doing their job in favor of either naked partisanship or abuse of authority. And there is no, zero reason for these people to continue their livelihoods on the federal dime.

Then moving from there, entire cancerous growths that have corrupted agencies of all kinds need to be pruned. This includes in the Pentagon, the Justice Department and FBI, and even parts of the Intelligence Community. While their purge can be delegated somewhat, it must be done.
