As a lifelong learner, I came to realize many years ago that the more I learn, the less I know.

Having said that, I find it interesting that there are posters on this thread who are certain that there is absolutely nothing going on re: UFO/UAPs ("chances are zero, nada, zilch!").;-)

Well, Earth is 4.5B; Big U is 13B; M-class stars with suitable planetary systems would have started forming 5-6B later. That gives a 3B head start to other ur-Earths, which should have been enough time for a carbon-based humanoidish society to either get off their planet and get going or singularize with silicon-based forms and get off their planet and get going.

Then the question is, how many, where did each start from, and did any acheive interstellar flight.

It's ludicrous, though, to base any visitation argument on anything other than extrapolated math and physics. And the M-class/Goldilocks Zone/Drake Equation math says visitation or even colonization is a big, definite maybe.

But the UFO hearing was pure 'Squirrel!' bait.

If it were just camera tricks, light doing funny things in the atmosphere etc, why have these phenomena been detected by radar and other highly advanced censors the military has?

What do you think radars use to see? Visible light is just a tiny part of the electro-magnetic spectrum, all a radar is looking at is light waves of a different wavelength. You get the same, fewer, and other interferences as visible light.

True, but when you're flying high, there's other issues. Simply being unable to really see anything can lead to hallucinations. Pick a point on your wall, then just stare at it for 2-3 min, try to blink as little as possible. do NOT look at anything else. You'll start to see weird stuff, and you only did it for a few minutes, they've been staring at nothing but clouds and water for how long? Also, they aren't necessarily breathing the same stuff you are - oxygen percentages are increased, specifically to fight hypoxia, which can be a source of seeing things (it's like getting drunk). If the mixture isn;t calculated right, or your physiology is different from the guy is was designed on, you might have some effects come up unexpectedly.



Is there other life out there? Almost definitely, yes. The universe is way too big for there to not be anything at all. Intelligent? Much less likely, but more than within the realm of possibility. It happened here, there's been plenty of time for other worlds to have reached our point, be at the medieval ages point, or even become much more advanced.

Has it visited us? That I doubt - All the alien stories don't seem like reasonable actions for an alien group to take, upon finding a somewhat-advanced species. Unless we're an Outer-Rim, backwater unknown world and the few visitors have simply been criminals or smugglers hiding out, then mayyybe. Space is HUUUUGE. Our radio signals, if an alien form is even using such techy to communicate, haven't really gotten very far out, and those we have sent (such as Aricebo), are incredibly weak at this point, and isn't even aimed at anything (it was aimed at a cluster 25M light-years away, at it's then-current position, not where it was going). By now, it's likely weaker than background noise in the utilized frequencies. The off-chance of some aliens running across the radio waves, or us directly, is extremely small, outside of a massive civilization that has the manpower, time, and tech to actually survey the rest of the galaxy.
