Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu has resigned. The announcement comes just days after it was revealed that Sidhu is one of the subjects of an FBI corruption probe.
Last week, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra asked an Orange County judge to put a hold on a deal to sell Angel Stadium, citing federal documents alleging that Sidhu was trying to leverage the deal to secure campaign contributions from the Angels.
The city of Anaheim had planned to sell the stadium to Los Angeles Angels team own Arte Moreno's company and would use money from the sale to fund affordable housing throughout the city. Sidhu is accused in an FBI affidavit of providing members of the Angels organization with insider information about the sale during negotiations, with the hopes of in turn securing funds for his re-election campaign.

If he were a Democrat the state of California wouldn’t be pressing charges.
Rob Bonta is the current Attorney General of California, and Xavier Becerra is currently the Secretary of HHS in the Brandon administration.

From my experience political party is much less important in local suburbia politics. I doubt most of the city voters know or care about the party of their mayor.

So this is a “In hopes of..” thought crime.
He HOPED TO receive campaign cash, he didn’t actually receive any money.
The CEO of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce was wearing a wire after being secretly arrested by the FBI. Mayor Harry Sidhu was recorded more than once saying that he expected the Angel baseball team to give him one million dollars in exchange for giving team owner Arte Moreno a sweetheart deal in the purchase of Angel Stadium.
Sidhu is a junior version of Biden. A crook but not very bright, and he does the bidding of a cabal that managed to gain control of the Anaheim city government. Disney and Angel baseball ownership may get dragged into this scandal.
And while Sidhu and some of the other cabal are Republicans, there’s also a major Democratic party player who has the California Democratic party seriously worried. Melahat Rafiei who has been wearing a wire since her arrest in 2019.
