The solution is self-evident to anyone who’s ever read census figures. Certain parts of the Ukraine that are Russophone should be returned to Russia. The rest of Ukraine should remain independent. I supported Putin when he limited his aims to the Russophone regions, as if you’re going to be ruled by crooks at least the Moscow crooks speak Russian. But when he moved his forces aggressively on Ukrainian-speaking regions, it was a step too far. Any putative czar who thinks he can reunite the “three Russias” is living some 19th century vodka-induced Panslavist fantasy.

The people in the Donbas speak mostly Russian. Zelensky’s native tongue is Russian.

Whether they speak Russian or not is somewhat meaningless.

Germany should take over 3/4s of Switzerland because those Swizz speak German?

If all these places want to be Russian so badly, why did they break off from the Motherland in the first place? Hell, I bet almost half their populace was around when it happened!
