As sex educators, we are deeply concerned about the recent effort to paint our work as “grooming” or “sexualizing” children. In fact, our goal is the exact opposite: to make sure children have the skills needed to repel the tactics used by predators.
...
So the question of the moment is: How is sex education different from grooming?
“My God! Why is that even a question?” (Rahel Bayar, a former sex crimes and child abuse prosecutor) laughed. “Grooming typically involves secrecy … which is one of the reasons why we teach the difference between secrets and surprises. Secrets have no ending and surprises do. We start teaching kids that at a very, very early age because secrets are what people who groom children use to silence them.”
Grooming preys on fear, shame and silence. Sex education seeks to dispel them through transparency.
Lessons for young children include correct anatomical terms for body parts including genitals and having control over their “body bubble,” or zone of privacy.
...
“informed kids grow into empowered and prepared adults who are better able to have healthy relationships, know their bodies and to be safer along their journey. Sexuality education is the resource that helps them get there.”
In the current climate, how can you make sure that all children receive the education they need and deserve?
Vote.

Yep and yep. Also, the internet makes home schooling vastly simpler than it used to be. I’m thinking of online curriculum and sites like Khanacademy.org.
Like secret “changing rooms” at schools, teachers and administrators telling kids “don’t tell your parents about your preferred gender,” and school boards refusing to let parents see the curriculum? Secrets like that?
Here little Johnny. Heres $50 to spend at the adult arcade and house of perversion. You be good now.
Schools used to be about Reading, Writing, and Arithmrtic.
Period.
Free lunch, free breakfast, after school tutoring/babysitting, and sex education have been a long slippery slope that has a lead our educational system to this point.
Doing the job that parents should be doing. It’s all part of the plan.
Why no, they’re not the same. Proper sex education is what you give a child so they can recognize and avoid groomers. Sitting a child down in front of one of them isn’t a very good way to accomplish that.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
So if this stuff isn’t a form of grooming, whether sexual or ideological, why are there sometimes admonishments to keep the stuff secret from parents?
OK groomer
The three R’s...
Reading..
Righting..
And rithmatic..
Sex starts with an S...
Does not belong in the schools..
Period.
Five, six or seven year olds should be taught in an age-appropriate manner how NORMAL sex works, by their PARENTS. Arousing their curiosity about ABNORMAL sex practices is part of the grooming process, no matter what the “educators” say.
The HATE being told they “like to sexualize children”, which is exactly what they’re trying to combat here. Keep saying it. They say “grooming” is about “secrets” - interesting considering how much parents didn’t know, and teachers not wanting them to know, about what their kids are being taught.
They talk about “women’s rights”, “the war on women”, then can’t define what a “woman” is, declare men can have babies, and want to sexualize kids.
^^^ This is where I steer every conversation with a leftist....followed with naming them a “pedo”. They put themselves in this corner - now I’ll ram it down their throats.
“How can we protect kids?”
How about teachers go back to teaching “Readin, ‘ritin and ‘rithmetic”?
This reminds me of “drug awareness” education for kids. It actually helped increase drug experimentation, abuse and in some cases addiction.
Let’s give the left exactly what they demand on others and we’ll eliminate the problem. As every gun owner is a potential racist mass murderer with an assault rifle (whatever that means), every teacher is now a groomer suspect. Every teacher must wear body cams. They cannot even turn them off in the teachers’ lounge. There, groomers can’t operate in secret on school grounds, at school events, etc. Staff and administrators have to wear them too. Parents get free access to recordings at anytime. Saving one child from a groomer in public schools is worth the teaching profession giving up their academic freedom and rights, right? Oh... the NEA and teachers’ unions will sign up b/c they really care about the kids.
Agree. All 4 kids homeschooled here. They’re far ahead of the PS peers and aren’t inundated with LGBT, liberal and ghetto BS.
No, you are groomers and belong to the party of groomers.
Wisconsin has a “Groomer” Governor. He has been a so called educator forever.
Rounds
Recoil
Range
Good idea
“ In fact, our goal is the exact opposite: to make sure children have the skills needed to repel the tactics used by predators.”
Nice try, Groomer.
