Bentley's first EV is terrifyingly fast — 0 to 60 in 1.5 seconds
We're not even sure we believe the claims
We already knew that Bentley is entering the electric car business, promising that an all-electric SUV would launch sometime in 2025. Now the company has revealed some of the first details about the car, and it sounds absolutely terrifying — but in a good way.
During an interview with Automotive News Europe, Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark confirmed just how powerful the automaker's first EV will be. We’re looking at 1,400 horsepower (1,044 kW) with a 0-60 time of just 1.5 seconds.
To put that into perspective, the Tesla Model S Plaid has a 0-60 time of 1.99 seconds — and Tesla claimed it was the fastest accelerating car in production when it was announced. Meanwhile, the Rimac Nevera, an electric hypercar with 1,914 horsepower, 258 mph top speed and a $2.44 million price tag, goes from 0-60 in 1.85 seconds.
(excerpt) "Most people enjoy the 30-70 mph acceleration, or in Germany the 30-150 mph acceleration," the CEO said. He believes that the high 0-60 speeds make the driver uncomfortable and nauseous, and for this reason the Bentley will offer a slower acceleration setting, which will increase the 0-60 time to around 2.7 seconds.

Hallmark confirmed that at least one version of the car will cost more than €250,000 — or $262,447. Not even the upcoming Tesla Roadster is set to cost quite that much.
That’s an E-ticket amusement park ride, not a car!
Wow, impressive, but if you had that kind of scratch, you might as well put yourself on a Space X rocket.
By riding the decelerator sled, in his 29th and last ride at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, Stapp demonstrated that a human can withstand at least 46.2 g (in the forward position, with adequate harnessing). This is the highest known acceleration voluntarily encountered by a human, set on December 10, 1954. Stapp reached a speed of 632 mph, which broke the land speed record and made him the fastest man on Earth. Stapp believed that the tolerance of humans to acceleration had not yet been reached in tests. He believed it is much greater than thought possible.
The quick 0-60 gets you to the next charging station really fast.
I was just thinking what a horrible looking grill. Looks almost like a cartoon face or something you’d see in cars movie.
What does a drag racer do in the 0-60?
I suspect there are going to be a lot of dead rich guys in a few years that crash these cars.
Ahhh.
Why does an electric car need that huge….ugly….front grill?
How many seconds does it take to charge?
A top fuel dragster does 0-60 in 0.8 seconds on its way to 330 mph in the quarter mile. A 0-60 in 1.9 seconds seems like it would be ~9 seconds in the quarter.
To catch more bugs.
An 'exterminator car'? - I guess.
I think the headlights are pretty fugly also.
All wheel drive plus computer traction control that can sense if each tire is slipping and adjust.
That is a lot of carbon black released into the air for a “zero emissions” vehicle.
You’ll get 3-4 really good 0-60 & 0-100 runs, then have to limp to a charging station.
Gearhead youtubers are salivating to make a video showing a large breasted, cleavage showing woman in the passenger seat going 0-60 in 1.5 seconds.
Tesla
400 mile range
200 miles with 15 m8nute charge
Your post fails the math test.
Go to youtube and watch the Tesla videos.
