There is no finer example of “Go Woke, Go Broke” than what is happening to the sports journalism industry (and the fashion industry, for that matter). Believe it or not, Keith Olbermann got his start at ESPN, so this has been going on longer than most people realize.
The latest gaggle of Victoria’s Secret Angels includes just one — count her, one — hot white babe. There’s also a B-List actress from India, a black woman, a lesbian, a plus size model (much like this SI “cover girl”) ... Go Woke, Go Broke.

Believe me, there’s countless men out there who will think she’s VERY HOT, however I’m not one of them!

That’s not a swimsuit model, that’s a flotation device.

She,for some reason, reminds me of that great skit that Dave Chappelle did called "Samuel L Jackson Beer"....
"Samuel L Jackson beer....it'll get you drunk....you'll be ****ing fat girls in no time".
God only knows what it reminds me though!

What's the point? To be "edgy"? Don't need it. I'm already edged out.

If the avoirdupois privileged in US slimmed to an easy 23% body fat then the resultant drop in carbon emissions would be equal to taking 130,000,000 cars off the road and dousing every light in Las Vegas.

She has a very pretty face, gorgeous hair, and the worst possible swimsuit for her figure. That’s all I’ve got.

Well, let me try it this way. Human beings do nothing, if not set standards for virtually every human activity and dimension. We rate the fastest person. The strongest. The smartest. We have competitions for the best cook, the greatest chess player, the best mathematician. Awards are given to the best chemist, the grower of the largest pumpkin and the best peacemaker. Who is the richest person, the best actor, the best inventor...
Now, if you are not among the richest, the smartest, the fastest...that does not mean that you are worthless. I mean, very, very few of us are anywhere near the superlative in any of these categories. We don't set these standards to marginalize everyone, we set them to celebrate the best among us.
But for some reason, we are not allowed to do this with feminine beauty. We are supposed to accept other, baser standards. I am not saying that this woman would not be a great wife. She very well may be. But she is NOT up to traditional standards that I adhere to. I am not wrong here. I mean, what is the standard in baseball? Willie Mays? Don't try to go around telling me that Willie Mays should not be the standard, and that we should now all accept Marv Throneberry. I ain't doing it...

Viewing this philosophically, marketing changes with the times, and the SI Swimsuit Issue is marketing. In the world away from fashion magazines and cover models, there are a lot of plus and even -
normal sized - women. Fashion designers can't sell only to skinny people. Models like Yumi Nu market to a changing and wider audience.
P.S.
Christie Brinkley, Paulina Porizkova, Kathy Ireland, Elle MacPherson and Tyra Banks are forever smoking HOT.

Good company at the end of a long dry spell but not pin-up material.
But, hey, even Playboy has trannies as playmates.
We are in a Twilight zone episode.

I’m just thankful we aren’t treated to a backside view. I can imagine the back being a thong.....
