I may be wrong but I thought I heard a rumor that in one on the early episodes they alluded that WWIII was a result somehow of the Jan 6 peaceful protest. Anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor?
Yeah
Transporter Room, # to beam up
+1
I was a big fan of the original Star Trek when I was a kid; it was very different, and interesting to those of us who came along during the ‘space race’.
I never really got into the newer versions; but on your recommendation, I may check this out.
Re first contacts with Romulans and Klingons. Go to any Democrat convention. You’ll find plenty of weird aliens there.
Pelosi, Maxine Watters, Lori Lightpants, Hoculh, Witless, James, etc
#17 What did Kirk say all the time?
Kirk: Where are my green women?!

Wesley Crusher was the first Mary Sue.
That is a person who solves everything with ease with no training over experts that just cannot figure out what to do until Mary Sue comes along.
All other female Mary Sue’s were patterned after him.... : )
I guess so, but it brings up the question in the first ST movie with Chris Pine where the Romulans from the future destroy his father’s starship about where that brother is. The scenes show his pregnant (with James) wife being put in a shuttle to escape from the Romulan ship while the father has to pilot the ship into a ramming course with it, killing him and destroying the ship. There was only the wife and medical attendants on board the shuttle... was the brother off at space camp or something?
Don’t bother trying to figure out or make sense of JJ “Camera Flares” Abrams Faux Trek universe. Anything after Star Trek: Enterprise just isn’t canon (due to legalities that it must be x percent “different”). The Abrams nonsense, the CBS STD Kurtzman crapola, Picard’s Wokefest horror (with John De Lancie’s Q scenes being the only thing worth seeing, if just in Youtube clips)...
Yup, that stuff is so “different” and far afield from what made most of us fans that we give almost all of what airs a wide berth (and they don’t even bother with the biggest key feature of films and tv shows — merchandise. You ever seen any mass produced for the Abrams-era to date ? That’s telling in itself. These post-Enterprise stuff is massively unpopular (STD especially) with the diehard fans that would buy the merchandise, folks like myself). Go woke, go broke.
I will say this about the three ST movies with Pine. The actors chosen to portray versions of the original characters seem more believable and well chosen (with the exception of Uhura). Karl Urban as McCoy and Zachary Quinto as Spock are excellent, IMO. As far as it goes, Pine isn’t a bad choice either.
Rebecca Romijn (from the “Librarians”) will make the show worth watching.
except for Kirk (who, btw, never served with Pike

Its James Kirk’s dad, Sam.

Spoiler - Stacy Abrams is the president of the United federation of planets, and Jan 6 caused the end of the US.
Stacy Abrams was on Star Trek: Discovery, and while 1/6 was referenced in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, it was not clear it was the true cause of the Second Civil War, nor was either side defined as the ‘bad guys’. Could easily be that the 2020 cheaters were the ones that precipitated CWII.
I really wasn’t that crazy about them, I’ll spare the details as to why, which you can probably guess. I thought they should’ve left well enough alone and done a new cast of characters 150-200 years after the original series.
If you’re going to do the original people, use the deep-fake method and employee voice actors who can accurately impersonate them (or just do a cartoon, a la the Animated Series from the ‘70s).
Watching it now.
Gonna post stuff here as I watch.
SPOILERS (Although this was free on Prime)

Why did Pike use the transporter after taking the shuttle close to Enterprise? Couldn’t he have just beamed up from the surface? I know. Exterior inspection and beauty shot, I suppose.
14:39
Noonian Singh on the ship as security and 1st officer? Relative of Kahn? Gonna dig up that storyline again?
15:38
Apparently, Pike and Spock are the only males on the bridge.
29:54
I actually agree with them beaming the 2 aliens up to steal their identities to gain access to the secured area. How many times have I thought of doing this very thing on other ST shows?
And, their sedation wears off. Gotta have the drama...
32:24
“Emergency Medical Transporter?” That also could have been useful in past ST shows.
38:17
“Take me to your leader.” Pretty good line considering the circumstance.
43:51
Showed Jan 6th protest. Interesting that they would pick that clip. Even dropped an, “F,” bomb sign there. Then a BLM riot, followed by a MAGA hat in a different clip’s crowd.
50:25
Sam Kirk looks like, “Guy,” from Galaxy Quest.
The guy playing Spock has got Nimoy’s voice down good.
I like how this seems to be a, “One and Done,” episode. Not the first part of a season long story arc. Also how they are actually focused on the storyline. I miss that about the old ST shows. The only annoying character is Noonian Singh. Yap-yap-yap-My-Past-Was-Horrible-yap-yap-yap....
I enjoyed it. Really hope they don’t go more woke and ruin it like they have with Picard and STD.
Not gonna sign up for anything to watch the other episodes. Gonna wait for the DVDs like always.
Okay. I’ve now watched three episodes of this and cannot possibly see how one might think it’s a ‘cut above,’ say the latest 3 Star-Trek versions with Pine, et al.
Watch the opening sequence where the ‘Enterprise’ cartoon sweeps across the screen and in the final pass-by it trails ribbons of color very reminiscent of a gay pride flag...
Couple that with just watching who’s on the bridge at any given moment - mostly women - and it’s that way for a lot of the ship. Matriarchal anybody? Who’s the Star Fleet commander now?
Three episodes now - NOT IMPRESSED with the stories at all. Pike comes off as a fretful pompadour pussy with his attitude and (what I feel) unconfirmed confidence in his immediate subordinates (e.g., the female Number One and this AMAZING Cadet - Uhuru)......Sorry. So far for me, the three episode plots suck. Bad stories and too much attention paid to the technological lights and splendor of this heretofore well-seen Enterprise being something near 500 years out of its timeline.
No sale.
Fair enough. I’ve only seen one episode so far.
