Lunar eclipses don’t get the same fanfare as solar eclipses.

Thanks. If the clouds clear up I will be able to see it.

But you can watch the whole thing naked-eyed. I remember I saw my first one while lying on the hood of my car...

Solar eclipses get songs written about them.
My cat has shadow but we charge $42.50 to see it.

Looks like clouds tonight. I’m going to call the astronomers to see if they’ll reschedule.

A lunar eclipse caused Athens to lose the Peloponnesian War. Well, at any rate it contributed to the loss.
Nicias delayed leading the Athenian expeditionary force away from Syracuse because of a lunar eclipse on August 27, 413 B.C., because the soothsayers told him to wait 27 days. In the end most of the forces were killed or captured. Athens kept fighting until 404 but it was greatly weakened by the losses in Sicily.

Lunar eclipse- way cool
Total solar eclipse- an other worldly experience.

Thanks to you and the original author for not using the silly “Blood Moon” term. It makes a cool astronomical event sound like a cheap Conan knockoff. “The Jaguar tribes will ravage the land of the Wizard king upon the rising of The Blood Moon”. Bleah!
