"The disease was first detected in the UK in 2018 after a (sic)traveller brought the virus back from Nigeria
and it spread to two other people, including one NHS nurse who caught it from bed linen.
Health bosses said it is important to emphasise that the overall risk to the general public remains 'very low'."

"The case announced earlier this month was a person with a recent travel history from Nigeria, which is where they were believed to have contracted the infection,
before travelling to the UK.
Dr Colin Brown, director of clinical and emerging infections at the UKHSA, said:
'We have confirmed two new monkeypox cases in England that are not linked to the case announced on May 7."

" Monkeypox is a rare viral infection which kills up to one in ten of those infected but does not spread easily between people."(Emphasis mine)
"Initial symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle aches, backache, swollen lymph nodes, chills and exhaustion."

Good news: they were able get the monkey pox patients off the ventilator, but they can’t get them off the chandelier

So we had 1 case last week. This week we have 2 new cases. Next week 4, then 8 then 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024.... In 32 weeks, it will be up to 4 billion new cases a week.

I’m sure they will get it under control though.

In reading the article listed, the consistent location of the trail of the infection is coming from Nigeria.

Like in Aliens:

The old smallpox vaccine us boomers received as kids was designed from the monkeypox virus, so we’re good. I would advise the rest of you not to have sex with monkeys.

...and an insatiable appetite for bananas

Monkeypox is easily prevented using the same vaccines used to prevent Smallpox. Unfortunately access Smallpox vaccine is very tightly controlled due to fears that having large numbers of people immune to Smallpox in a country would allow that country to use it as a biological weapon against other countries. Currently in the US only the military and high government officials are vaccinated against Smallpox. People traveling to countries where Monkeypox should be able to get Smallpox vaccinations before traveling. Likewise countries with Monkeypox outbreaks should have much more availability of Smallpox vaccines.
