I know that Rob "Meathead" Reiner directed this, but in my view the original "This Is Spinal Tap" was a total cult classic.
Even though you might have liked it in the olden days, what do you think about this now?

If they keep it on the download and don’t try to over act and include a lot of gratuitous over the top action scenes it should be good.
Just keep it subtle and smart.

Libgressive fantasy of being even remotely relevant. Besides, PT 2’s are never as good. 🎸😨😂🙌

I’m a big fan of the original, and of the Chris Guest mockumentary series that followed.
This is a Bad Idea.

I’m a huge Spinal Tap fan. The Folksmen was hilarious as well. They opened for Spinal Tap on one of their tours years ago. I’ll keep an eye on this for sure.

I loved the original. I have a bad feeling that this will be a mashup of all of the bits and jokes that didn’t make the cut the first time. Also, these guys are really getting up there in age to be playing fake rock stars. Part of the bit 38 years ago was that they were washed up back then. This looks like a disaster in the making.

One of my favorites mockumentaries is A Mighty Wind.

Every movie made in the past few years has had to conform tightly to political correctness, so I am not that hopeful. But creativity can sometimes overcome a lot of hindrances, and occasionally sequels are very good. I liked Back to the Future part III, and Christmas Vacation. Of course, those were made just a few years after the originals. But Hollywood has remade a lot of old movies... sometimes using almost the exact same script with a new cast a generation or two later. Sometimes they turned out OK.
I am looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. To me it seems like there is some good material when we have all these geriatric pop stars running around. I was not super fond of Christopher Guest's mockumentary about aging folk singers, A Mighty Wind, but there were some good parts.

Mental illness and genius always go hand-in-hand. Take Mel Gibson as an example on the other side.

I own it on DVD and it is a favorite. I think a sequel would be less music centric and more “where are they now” centric. Maybe jamming in the basement of the apartment building one of them lives in. 🤣
