I loved the original. I have a bad feeling that this will be a mashup of all of the bits and jokes that didn’t make the cut the first time. Also, these guys are really getting up there in age to be playing fake rock stars. Part of the bit 38 years ago was that they were washed up back then. This looks like a disaster in the making.

Every movie made in the past few years has had to conform tightly to political correctness, so I am not that hopeful. But creativity can sometimes overcome a lot of hindrances, and occasionally sequels are very good. I liked Back to the Future part III, and Christmas Vacation. Of course, those were made just a few years after the originals. But Hollywood has remade a lot of old movies... sometimes using almost the exact same script with a new cast a generation or two later. Sometimes they turned out OK.

I am looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. To me it seems like there is some good material when we have all these geriatric pop stars running around. I was not super fond of Christopher Guest's mockumentary about aging folk singers, A Mighty Wind, but there were some good parts.
