Good guy, he wasn’t a famous actor but I liked his roles and on-screen chemistry.

Always liked this guy. It’s too bad Remo Williams wasn’t a bigger hit , I would have liked to see that series continue

Ward was very good in Tremors, which was a near-great movie. He was in the first sequel which was OK but not as good as the original. The rest of the sequels...forgettable.

...he moved to Rome as a young man and worked as a mime, then a voice-over actor. Wait a minute, is that even legal? RIP, Fred.

Tremors was my favorite “campy” movie.

Tremors and Remo Williams. Both stupidly fun and entertaining movies. I thought he was hilarious as Joe Dirt’s dad in, well, Joe Dirt. “Hey! How exactly is a rainbow made? How exactly does a sun set? How exactly does a posi-trac rear-end on a Plymouth work? It just does.”

He was a man who planed ahead:

He played Gus Grissom in “The Right Stuff”. A great portrayal of somebody who knew he was being screwed over for something not his fault.

I can’t remember the name of the movie, but he was in one where he played a dirt bike racer who travels back in time to the old west. I think Peter Coyote played the villain.

IMO he was the perfect choice to be Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff.

He was probably born in the wrong time. He usually played stern, gruff, manly types. Had he been around during the hey-day of westerns and films noir, there would have been a ton of rolls for him. He didn't fit in well in the sensitive guy era.
I particularly liked him in The Right Stuff and Remo Williams. Too bad Remo didn't catch fire and become a series.
