Pimlico is in the hood in Baltimore. If you’ve ever been to that racetrack it’s not a good location. It’s one of the reasons the owners of the track want to move the Preakness to another track, but so far have been unsuccessful.
The Preakness is only half a furlong shorter than the Derby.
Never been
You don’t want to go there. It really is in the Baltimore hood. Of the three racetracks where the Triple Crown events are held it’s by far the worst of them.
Is it common for an owner to issue a trophy to the trainer after the fact?

I saw this on Pawn Stars. What was weird about it is that it commemorated Affirmed’s Preakness win, but the trophy also said “Triple Crown Winner.”
What? Do they issue a trophy when the horse wins the race, then issue another trophy if the horse goes on to win the Triple Crown?
No, the trophy for sale was not issued by the track. As far as I could figure it was issued by the owner to the trainer.
1 mile and 3/16.
I grew up in Westchester.
You know who’s from upcounty? AOC.
Yup- I’m right down the road from Yorktown Hts. Unlike her- i grew up in the poorer section of Yorktown.
Tehre has been talk of shutting down Pimlico and bringing the Preakness to Laurel.
Tehre has also been talk of renovating Pimlico, in which case Laurel would get the Preakness for a year or two anyway while renovation is oging on, as Aqueduct did when Belmont was being renovated.
Affirmed did win the Triple Crown. He and Seattle Slew won in back to back years.
I believe that in Yorktown, she was known as Sandy Cortez. Sandy is less “ethnic.”
I grew up in Eastchester, then moved to Irvington. Graduate of Irvington High School. Go Bulldogs.
Thanks.
I grew up in Mohegan Lake, the poorer part of Yorktown. Went to JFK HS in Somers- greatest school in the area.
I now live in New Castle about 2 miles from the Clinton’s, or as i refer to it, the “a$$hole of NY.” Chappaqua taxes and bedford schools.
I know the Preakness is shorter — I also thought the track had tighter turns and shorter straight-aways. But I could be wrong.
The way Rich Strike ran the Derby the Preakness doesn’t seem like a good fit for him.
Can anyone confirm for me that the jockey was asked about meeting Biden and he said that if he wanted to see a horses ass he would have come in second.
