If they were ever cooked and served around me, the grape jelly was no more than an unidentifiable secret ingredient.

Great Fondue recipe, 2 to 1 combo Swiss and Gruyere, Rub the pot with garlic, light it and pour in a good white wine (dry or semi dry) slowly combine the shredded cheese with the wine in the pot until melted and combined, dip in cubed French Baguette pieces and slurp..

In 1968 I was living in a dorm my freshman year and we had some RC in the closet. It opened one, took a swig, it tasted very strange so I looked closer at the bottle and it had a semi digested grasshopper in it. At that time RC was very popular in the Midwest, and I loved the stuff, but I’ve never been able to drink another drop. Stuff happens.

Used to drink it here in Georgia in the early 60s all the time. I’m glad I never ran across the grasshopper thing, though.

I guess human-hating leftists who want the world to stop eating meat and stuff in favor of insects would call that a ‘delicacy’ now...

Spaghettios were definitely a ‘60s thing. Elementary school friend of mine couldn’t get enough of them for lunch. Carnation milk powder or pop tarts for breakfast.
