(RNS) — Dr. Mehmet Oz, the celebrity surgeon and host of “The Dr. Oz Show,” has launched a campaign for Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seat now held by Pat Toomey, who is retiring. If Oz wins the Republican nomination, he will be the first Muslim to be nominated for a Senate seat by a major American political party.
The son of Turkish immigrants, Oz, 61, was a widely known cardiothoracic surgeon and Columbia University professor of medicine before rising to national prominence on television, initially as a frequent guest on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show before debuting his own syndicated show in 2009.
Oz’s faith is perhaps little known to the millions of viewers of his show but his role as one of the most prominent Muslims in American life has not gone unnoticed. He is one of roughly 40 Americans included in the 2022 edition of the World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims, an annual list put out by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, a Jordanian think tank.

1. Oprah launched Dr. Oz’s television career. Now Oz asks his “friend” to stay away from the PA U.S. Senate race.

A few days later, Oprah states anyone can run for office and says it’s up to the people of PA who they choose to elect - i.e., not offering an endorsement of Dr. Oz - which is what he said he asked her to do yet media interpreted it as her “distancing” herself from him.

Dr. Oz was photographed with ‘Spirit Cooking’ specialist Marina Abramovic, who infamously appeared in the emails of Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign boss John Podesta, who scored an invitation to a “Spirit Cooking” ritual with Abramovic. The occultic symbolism evident in Abramovic’s work has been scrutinized for years. And yet Dr. Oz and Abramovic apparently had a very engrossing conversation with one another. Dr. Oz bought thousands of doses of hydroxychloroquine during pandemic
Dr. Mehmet Oz personally bought thousands of dollars worth of hydroxychloroquine during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
In March 2020, Oz spent $8,800.00 on 2070 tablets of the drug. The purchase came at a time when the TV doctor was heavily promoting the anti-Malaria drug as a possible treatment for the deadly virus.
His advocacy even reached the White House which confirmed Trump was taking the drug in May of that year.
Oz’s campaign confirmed the purchase and said the doctor had been trying to help Columbia University with a study.
“At the outset of the pandemic, Dr. Mehmet Oz spoke with health experts worldwide who were seeing hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin as viable treatment options for desperately ill COVID patients. He offered to fund the clinical trial at Columbia University,” Brittany Yanick, Oz’s Communications Director told The Post.
The campaign said Oz had been prepared to spend $250,000 to assist the school, but that the offer was rejected and Oz ended up donating the pills to a hospital which he refused to name.

Tower Hill’s latest child porn scandal is not its first. School officials acknowledged that Ushler’s arrest “may have reverberations and echoes” of a similar scandal involving former headmaster Christopher Wheeler.
Wheeler was convicted in 2015 on 25 counts of dealing child porn and sentenced to 50 years in prison, though these convictions were overturned by the Delaware Supreme Court. The court argued that the search warrants that led to Wheeler’s arrest were “too broad.”
