Hmmm, I was bottle-fed and born in 1954. I don’t ever remember being told I was given homemade formula, and just assumed in my adulthood that it had been commercial.. Maybe I’m wrong.
You might not be wrong. I really have no idea when they started making commercial baby formula. I thought since this family member did homemade in 1966 it was before commercial formula. Also, we were in a rural, out in the sticks area. Perhaps commercial formula wasn't readily available or too expensive? 🤷♀️

From what I remember from my reading up on HFCS and corn syrup years ago, they are different.

A baby probably shouldn’t be given molasses for the same reasons a baby shouldn’t be given honey. Their immune system probably can’t deal with the little minor nasties in it.

Corn Syrup (Kayro) is 100% glucose. HFCS is glucose and fructose. Kayro has never added HFCS to its syrup.

My daughter was born in 1973 and was fed commercial formula. I did use cloth diapers though. :-0

Yep. My mom tried with me but couldn’t. She was a stay-at-home mom. I wasn’t able to stay home with mine when she was a baby but did later.

That recipe uses molasses and maple syrup. If molasses can be used for a newborn and up, I wonder why some recipes use Karo. Thanks!
