SEATTLE — Passengers on a Carnival Cruise Ship that docked Tuesday in Seattle say more than 100 people aboard the ship tested positive for COVID-19 and the ship was overwhelmed.
Multiple people say they’re in quarantine at Seattle-area hotels after testing positive or being exposed to someone with COVID-19. Carnival Cruise Line would not confirm how many people tested positive, but said there were a number of positive cases, KING5 reported.
Darren Sieferston, a passenger on the cruise from Miami to Seattle, is in quarantine after testing positive. He said the crew’s response was chaotic.
“They didn’t have enough staff to handle the emergency that was happening, period,” said Sieferston. “They were overwhelmed and they didn’t have a backup course in how to handle about 200 people affected with COVID. We all suffered.”

I didn't get the vaccine for covid for several reasons.
It doesn't work.
It can have risky side effects.
People who get fully vaccinated are more likely to get covid than unvaccinated people.
There is no evidence that being vaccinated means that you won't get it as bad as an unvaccinated person. - Tom
I will be checkin’ that out!
I have never cruised alone and do not intend to in future.
It is always my wife and many times grown up kids join us and sometimes in-laws of kids join in.
I see no point in paying double occupancy fare for a single cruiser.
According to a press release, from Fox News the Carnival Spirit team managed an unspecified number of COVID cases during its Panama Canal journey that departed Miami on April 17 and arrived in Seattle on May 3. -Tom
I thought this would be the time frame that is fixed, because none of these ships will sail full. Why waste an empty cabin when it could have a solo payer in it.
During the past 5 cruises beginning with 1st cruise in September 2021 through last cruise in April 2022, all 5 cruises were without any covid problems, prices were ridiculously discounted, and ships were half full except the last one was 70% full.
Since September 2021 when cruises began sailing again, there have been 10,000+ cruises or more sailed through today. Why are people freaking out about infections on 1 or 2 ships?
On another point testing positive does not mean one gets sick with serious symptoms. I never understood the fear of testing positive. I bet if they tested for flu, STD’s, TB, or many other infectious diseases, there will be tons of positives. What is this obsession about covid testing positive with no symptoms in most cases?
You are exactly right. Cruise business operators are obviously not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
I believe if you check out the British hospitals, you will find it is about the same. - Tom
Floating tenements, no thanks.
Consider yourself lucky as there are exceptions to every rule. Speaking for myself I never fancied large crowds and for many, many years I spent several weeks per year in the Cayman Islands, renting the same villa in a remote area close to the sea, as I enjoyed my daily swims, one mile in the morning and another mile late in the afternoon.
But unfortunately, age has taken its toll and I am no longer able to travel, but the memories are unforgettable. Aside all that, it used to be pleasant to go on a flight but towards the end it had become a pain. If you enjoy what you are doing and it works out for you, more power to you wishing you the best of health.
Capt. Tom, you seriously need to begin cruiseing again now when prices are discounted (upto 80%) and ships are half empty. It has been very nice with no lines and no crowds during my last 5 cruises in 7 months.
Remember, money can buy almost anything, but can never buy time lost. Life is short. No point in living in fear of covid or the vaccines. 255+ Million Americans have been jabbed already, and I have not seen 1 million (way less than 1%) Americans dropping dead from the vaccines.
I will NEVER take a flight anymore to go on any cruises.
I fear 200+ people sitting shoulder to shoulder in a closed titanium tube for several hours breathing in close proximity of each other. On top of that price of flight is sometimes higher than the cruise, with eating awful food on flights.
One lady on our dining table was from Michigan and she said her flight cost more than the 5 day cruise from port Canaveral. Poor thing had to opt for a red-eye flight to save money. Cruise ends at 9AM. He flight was at 10 PM.
I am loving living in Florida with 2 cruise-ports less than 90 minutes drive from house. 57 more short cruises (3-5 days) is my goal before kicking the bucket. I am already 82, so things need to speed up a bit.
why do you push drugs on people?...
That’s Funny right there!

“The news comes shortly after Carnival-owned Princess Cruises reported its latest outbreak on the Ruby Princess ship, which saw more than 250 coronavirus cases in just 5 weeks.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating the vessel and placed it under observation, according to its website. According to the CDC’s website, 53 of the 92 cruise ships that opted into its covid program have reported enough coronavirus cases to meet the threshold for investigation. That includes 21 ships sailing under lines owned by parent company Carnival Corp.”
apparently major covid outbreaks on these floating petri dishes is the norm rather than the exception ...
really, this many random folks from random places and this densely packed together is the very definition of a superspreader event ... and also clear evidence that the so-called vaccines are basically useless since everyone has to present proof of vaccination AND take a pre-boarding covid test ..
Thanks Owen,
I’ve just Retired and these
Last 2 years have been a
Total mess,for me, the USA
and the Planet. Doesn’t seem to be a light at the
End of the tunnel and no one to Hand the Bill for this.

I don’t. Your English comprehension skills are at low level.
You will not find a single post where I say the covid vaccines are necessary. But people with low IQ have tough time comprehending. So I just ignore your posts most of the time.
your post #92 proves you’re pushing drugs...
