Woke BS
$19 for three tacos? And no sides? NO WAY!
Well, la-de-da...aren’t they special.
I like to make my own tortillas(flour). Super easy and taste better than store bought. Refrieds and rice too.
Food is cheaper making it yourself (Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc).
*I have not mastered the spring and egg rolls yet but I can make some killer ravioli.
Mexican illegal aliens are a dime a dozen. Three tacos should be $3.
In my side of the woods I can get a plate of 5 enchiladas, beans, rice and a table side of chips and salsa for $14. And it’s awesome.
“If we as Mexicans refuse to pay the price a Mexican eatery has established in order to operate in a pricey neighborhood and deliver on the quality, then we are signaling to others that they shouldn’t either.”
She has it ass-backwards. The price is not a demand based on the emotions of the vendor. The price is what the market will bear. If her 19 dollar tacos with no sides are worth it, people will be lined up out the door.
If a taco as good or nearly as good is found next door with some rice and beans also for 8 bucks, they will have the line out the door.
Not all tacos are equal.
The restaurant industry is getting clobbered as people keep returning to the kitchen to cook for themselves. The cooking videos on social media is destroying restaurants, not to mention what COVID did and inflation is doing.
I’d like Gordon’s opinion on this.

Homemade tortillas are truly the best.
Tacos were peasant food, basic sustenance. They’re not haut cuisine.
Actually, it would be culturally accurate to keep it cheap. It’s the same reason Chinese food is cheap while Thai food is expensive. Mexican and Chinese food was introduced to this country from poor immigrants.
I have had Mexican food that was fresh, from good ingredients, and well-seasoned which would be worthy of a high-end restaurant and its prices.
And I have had Taco Bell.
Two different things: we will always have the low-end, but I agree that Mexican food well-made is worthy of being high-end. It is not all greasy-spoon; it can be done well.
It took them 16 hours, start to finish, to make tortillas, because they let the dough rest in the fridge overnight.
“ Because I’m a farmer doesn’t mean that the value of work is worth less.”
Your work is worth what the free market says it is.
Period.

I like tacos, they should charge at least $100 each for one.
For that price, I can get that with beans and rice to go with a Corona or a margarita during happy hour.
Taco Bell tacos works for me.
I will say I’ve eaten her restaurant here in Los Angeles and it’s outstanding. The red mole was my favorite. I did pass on tge crickets. I’ve recommended it a lot.
Her mole negro was very good as well as tge green mole. I’ll pass on the yellow mole.
Her prices aren’t through the roof but its not the neighborhood taco restaurant either.
If you’re in LA give it a try
