April 12 (UPI) -- An unusual traffic stop was caught on camera in San Francisco when police pulled over a car that turned out to be completely unoccupied.
The San Francisco Police Department confirmed officers stopped the vehicle in the Richmond District when it was observed driving after dark without its headlights activated.
A video captured by a witness shows officers approaching the car after it pulled over and expressing surprise to find it empty.
The autonomous vehicle was a taxi operated by Cruise, a company majority-owned by General Motors.
A bystander made a good point: Who pays the fine if there's no driver in the car? The car's owner I guess.
Should be a robot policeman.

It’s only a matter of time until one of these abominations runs somebody over, if it hasn’t happened already......I just hope it’s not a kid.
The car should come with an app to mouth off to the cop after its pulled over.
And to disregard all directives from police, but how will they program running from the cop, just driving away?

Of course human driven cars never do that.
Maybe they need a Johnny Cab mannequin in the “driver’s” seat like in Total Recall.

My friend has a new Mercedes SUV that automatically does what it has to do to stay in the lane. She swerved a bit over the line to avoid a cyclist at the edge of her lane and the damn car pulled her back — overrode her action. The cyclist “missed it by that much”. Very dangerous.
Of course they do, however a human behind the wheel means there is the opportunity for it to be avoided......and yes I know these autonomous cars have sensors to keep it from happening but having worked in the aviation maintenance field for many years I learned early on that everything has a reject rate.

Yeah that’s the kind of thing I’m talking about.....I just don’t believe autonomous is always “best”.
Immediately after pulling over for a cop, drive away and head to the local McDonalds and tear the place up for not having Egg McMuffins available at 3 p.m.
While that video is hilarious.....it is full of real life advice that if had been taken to heart I think a whole bunch of blacks would still be alive but are not because THEY decided to be combative with LEOs.
