L.J. https://www.ruralsprout.com/dandelion-flowers/ is a link inside of Pollards link to "10 Fertilizer teas with weeds" article.

Thought you would find it interesting! (I did!)

(Jelly, tea, syrup, pickled, etc!)

Planting 30 tomato plants, mostly BrandyWine.

Have you ever planted Mortgage Lifter tomato?
Another heirloom. They look like something the dog threw up but are absolutely delicious.
Best tomato flavor ever!

Ern; Still going to Texas? Moving is a big pain.

Okra, Peppers, Sweet potatoes (Covington is good one), should work well there if you have enough room.

Might be able to get sweet potatoes in this year with enough time to ripen.

Advantage sweet potatoes over okra and peppers is that you put them in and forget them til fall. Quick till, and fertilize and plant. (and hope for rain!)

Good luck! Sure you have a lot of other things to do this year.

No. Never even heard of them, I’ll have to Google that variety.

Just looked it up. A huge red tomato.
Reminds me of BrandyWine with the unusual shape.
Taste is what matters.
I’ll have to look for seeds and grow a few next year.

Has anyone ever heard of Mountain Pride tomatoes (variety)? Last year I grew Rutgers, but I was disappointed. My local garden center had small plants of these, so I decided to try something new. It said it was good for containers, which is what I am limited to. (Not allowed to have a vegetable garden in my HOA. They have no idea how much I loath their rules. We bought here because the house and property otherwise is pretty cool and not like the others, but we still have to live within their confines.)

I have not heard of Mountain Pride tomatoes. You did well to pick a determinate variety since you have to keep your garden on the tame side.

I am growing San Marzano tomatoes for the first time this year. But I have no HOA and lots of room. I have never tasted San Marzano and am looking forward to a new tomato.

Every year I plant a variety of tomatoes.

All a ton of work! Probably a smart move to go to Texas.

Thank you for your kind words.

Working in my garden brings me incredible peace and joy in these turbulent times.

Here are a few of my roses that are blooming now:

Parade Day (my newest rose):

Henry Ford - planted for my mother, yellow roses were her favorite:

"George Burns"

And "Love" - I think I picked this one up at the supermarket, of all places, but it is really lovely:

I started a bunch of Mortgage Lifters for DD and me. I guess they are kind of funny looking but they did well for us in 2020, the last time I tried starting from seed.

I am out of here, today! Going to a MLB game, Brewers versus Cubs. Mom booked us on a bus trip and got us a SKY BOX with snacks and drinks. Such LUXURY! It's raining, anyway, so no playing in the garden, today. I'll catch up with you all tonight.

Sort of warm-ish and very wet-ish here in Central Missouri over the past week. Work has kept me from doing as much morel hunting as I'd like, but I have managed to catch a couple gallons so far. Also caught a terrapin show on Saturday. lol

For the most part things are going well in the greenhouse. My tomato plants are ready to move outdoors, but it usually doesn't work out very well here to do put them out before Mothers Day, so they will stay inside for another couple weeks. Cabbages, dill, and fennel can go out soon as the soil dries up a bit more, maybe as early as this evening.

I set the baby Dunstan Chestnut trees out yesterday afternoon. With any luck the tree tubes will keep the rabbits and deer off for a few years and give the trees a chance to become established.

Tappy’s gets good reviews. I’m growing some and the seedlings have outgrown the other varieties I’m trying, including brandywine.

Will find out how they taste later.

The migration is running a bit late, it seems, but is definitely gaining momentum.

In the last five days the Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks, Baltimore Orioles, Purple Martins, and several varieties of hummingbirds have started to show up at Mrs. Augie’s feeders.

Mrs. Augie was airing the house out yesterday and one of the Purple Martins flew through the open door into the sun room. Being a typical bird-brain, it wasn’t able to find its own way out. After 15-ish minutes of bouncing off the windows the poor thing was exhausted to the point of sitting down. She let Mrs. Augie pick her up and carry her outside.
