I hate open ended storytelling. I am an Aristolean. Aristotle said a story must have a beginning, a middle and and end. There are a slim handful of movies where a lack of ending is thought provoking and worthwhile. Most are just... unresolved.
If you are going to tell me a story, I want it to be the whole enchilada, ending included. Wrap it up, and show me your vision of how and why it is resolved as such. Don’t cop out and just leave it up in the air.
A lot of movies have no ending because the writer/director has painted themselves into a corner. A lot of movies have no end because the producer does not want to take a stand or offend. It is often a cop out.
I hate most movies that fail to resolve the story with an ending.
While many movies have and end to their particular story-line, what I hate is the need to set up a sequel or prequel. This is especially prevalent in action movies.
Plus, if I see one more female ripoff from vengeance originals, I'm gonna throw something at my 4k screen. I don't know how many I've started and stopped. Although, there have been a couple that worked with Jodie Foster in The Brave One and Jennifer Garner in Peppermint.
