@ColumbiaBugle
Hard to think of a Congressional floor debate more detached from reality than this Ukraine lend-lease spectacle happening now on the House floor. Both party’s speeches have been replete with references to World War II and our “sacred responsibility to defend democracy.” Bizarre.

I suggest watching the vote closely when it happens...
It's going to tell us a lot!
Didn’t Zelensky just ban some eleven political parties? Guess this is “democracy”. Speed up the printing press.
“I suggest watching the vote closely when it happens...”
If only we could know how much of that $33bn was going to be stolen here, then how much was going to be stolen once it gets to Ukraine.
I suspect that $33bn will shrink by about 20%. 10% for the big guy on both sides of the pond.
What is rate of kickbacks ?
I’m curious to know if we’re still part of Oceania or if this is some temporary alliance with Eurasia to battle the evil Eastasians...
Smedley Butler for President!
His corpse has more sense than anyone in DC right now.
Yes indeed!
The money will be divided up and wasted on other pet projects by both the communists and the GOP...
They all win...
Except the Ukrainians, who will get a just few crumbs...
A “democracy” that bans the Orthodox Christian Church.
Not kidding - slimebag POS actually did that, and it goes completely unreported.
They’ll do what Deep State tells them to do.
“sacred responsibility to defend democracy”?
The Ukraine had a democracy. It was overthrown by a violent coup in 2014.
And Obama/Biden supported the coup.
So...egads.
They will smash that 33 billion like one big piñata.
We do realize 33 billion is three thousand 300....millions. Nearly minted millionaires being created out of thin air.
Ukraine’s yearly GDP is $150 billion - probably a lot less now.
We are giving them 25% of their yearly total GDP.
What exactly will it go for?
It will certainly top-off a lot of corrupt NATO lackey bank accounts
The 35 billion dollars of aid will absolutely be bipartisan. A little bit of it will end up in Ukraine hands but sooner or later most of it will end up in Russian hands.
Serious question, do you really believe this won’t be bipartisan?

Enough for a complete border wall with $8 billion left over for Border Patrol.
they “lost” the first package of weapons, and we are supposed to send ANOTHER package, and the second one hasn’t been accounted yet?
F these Ukrainians
There was no justification for Hitler invading another country. But there is an explanation. During the 30 Years War, parts of Germany lost half their population. And Germany was only 1/40 the size of Russia, meaning it was vulnerable to foreign invasion. In some ways, Russia could be seen as rightfully German territory, given that the Romanovs were partially-descended, from Catherine onwards, from German nobility.
In much the same way that there was bipartisan agreement on massive supplies for a genocidal Russian regime against an expansionist Germany in the 1940’s, it’s very likely that both parties will support a tiny aid package for a democratic Ukraine against an expansionist Russia in the 2020’s. The US handed over an amount equivalent to 4% of its economy to Russia per year during WWII. The amount of aid to Ukraine, if it adds up to $100b this year, would be 0.4% of the $23T US economy. In other words, the US would be, relatively-speaking, providing 1/10 the aid to democratic Ukraine that it provided to Russian genocidaires during WWII.
Ukraine ping

I will add I see nothing noting the pay back schedule for this Ukrainian loan. Both Britain and Russia paid their lend lease from WWII in full.
“Didn’t Zelensky just ban some eleven political parties?”
He banned Russian-funded leftwing, socialist, and political parties that were headquartered out of Donbass and Luhansk...which I’m told by the Putinistas are no longer part of Ukraine.
Seems rational to me.
