The original Infiniti ad is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvV6ufWJqN0. The New Brunswick troll is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL4-8jCrKxc. This musicologist thinks they're both brilliant: I've cringed with horror at bad elementary orchestra performances, and it's OK for the better youth orchestras to respond.

Something to bring a smile in an era where there is little to smile about--though that is changing (thank you, Elon and Ron).

Remake the ad with white supremacists turning up their noses at a rap “artist” performance and check the reaction.

Good ad v INFINITI’s bad attempt.

My husband is very sensitive to music - I have to turn the sound down whenever that ad comes on :-)

Youth musical groups should always use Prof. Harold Hill's "Think System".

Ha, do you remember orchestra competitions? Where you have to sit through SIX HOURS of other orchestras playing? And it’s pretty much all bad?

That was a foolish commercial.

Parents don’t need to be reminded of their harrowing experiences...

“I’ve cringed with horror at bad elementary orchestra performances”

Sat through many of those recently with grandkid players. The first year was rough but you have to ignore the actual notes and just root, root for all those little bobbleheads trying their hearts out. Year 3 actually starts to get enjoyable...

I love that commercial, especially the end where both the child and her mother are smiling. That ad makes me smile every time I see it.

The message is even more insidious than the tag line indicates. The real message is that women secretly resent having to take their annoying kids to orchestra practice, soccer practice, ballet practice, and other maternal responsibilities when they could escape to a much more satisfying life inside the cocoon of their luxury car.

Love it.

I can’t stand that Infiniti car ad.

Kudos to these kids/this very impressive youth orchestra program.

the children seen in the video are in fact not playing, but miming along to a performance by an adult orchestra who had purposely been playing the piece badly.

It would have been fun to be in the studio with the musicians making themselves stink.

Maybe they had more than one take: "OK performers, that was pretty bad but not bad enough, go ahead and make it worse"😜

I think that ad is targeting childless, work-from-home young leftists. That is apparently Infiniti’s target demo, and everyone that I have known that owns one fits it.

Back in the late 60’s, our high school band was top in the state. Every holiday that required a parade, mostly 4th of July, almost every town would have a parade with the local HS bands participating. We would stand along the main street watching it and some of the local high school bands were just horrible. Our high school band was exceptional, it was a joy to every ones ears to hear them come down the street. Our band director was meticulous. We also had great half time entertainment at all our home football games.
