@SadiqKhan
Free speech cannot mean a free pass for hatred.
We must not forget the impacts of online hate speech, which fans the flames of prejudice and leads to appalling and tragic real-world violence.
Social media companies must do more, not less, to protect their communities.

It’s great as long as you get to define hatred.
The UK doesn’t have a constitution or free speech, the subjects serve the will of the crown.
Free speech cannot mean a free pass for hatred.

Actually that is exactly what FREE SPEECH means.
If you are not allowed to say something that may offend someone then free speech does not exist.
It is ironic that the free speech movement that began in the 1960 on college campuses has turned into censorship once the hippies of the 60 gained power.
Free Speech is Free Speech....
IF someone hates something, they are allowed to speak their feelings and opinions, I know being a Muslim and all you don’t believe that, because Islam is about subjugation, not liberty.
The democrats do it, so why not?
“And we will decide what hatred is!”
As wonderfully vague as ‘misinformation’.
Unless of course it is hatred of Christianity, conservatism or Donald Trump.
Build your own Twitter Mr. Mayor, then you can censor and ban anybody you want.
If you’re afraid of free speech, you are by definition a tyrant, or one in the making.
Under the guise of hate speech, liberals have been able to silence any objection to intolerable black crime rates and the sodomite takeover of the media.
islam is a totalitarian death cult founded by a child rapist.
Mayor Khan isn’t American, and he’s a practicing Muslim.
There are no bigger haters in the world than Muslims.
Tell that to a lot of the Jihadis Mister Khan.
Truth is, free speech gives people the right to speak hatefully. People have the right to know who hates and why. Squelching free speech is more dangerous.
Excellent use of free speech!
It is also remarkable that as much as those hippies whined about free speech, they actually had their free speech.
I agree it is ironic that they have been the ones behind the move to censorship of speech.
Weak minded people are lazy and it is easier to censor than it is to debate.
The current crop of fascists don’t just censor speech, they outright purposefully ignore any news or issue that does not fit their allowed narrative.
All depends who is doing the “hating”, right Mr. Khan?
I mean we all know they’re referring to white conservative-minded males who put family and morality first. The left has shoved this idea down our throats directly and indirectly for decades.
Free speech is exactly for hatred — and any other contrary opinion. It’s up to an intelligent person to decide which appeals most to them. Free speech has always been about protecting speech you don’t agree with. It’s amazing these fascists don’t get that.
The only speech that should be restricted are threats and violence against individuals. THAT’S IT.
“MAYOR KHAN: Free speech cannot mean a free pass for hatred”
Whoever you are, free speech IS a “free” pass to say whatever the hell you want to say.
That’s WHY its called FREE SPEECH!
AND, if someone yelled “FIRE” in a crowded (or empty) movie theater that I was in, I would say “WHAT fire? WHERE? I don’t see any smoke. Sit down and shut the hell up.”
If someone called me a “racial epithet”, I would simply say “I know you are but what am I”? /s
You can criticize the state of free speech law in the UK all you want, and you would be right.
But the UK does have a Constitution, albeit an unwritten one consisting of tradition, convention, and Acts of Parliament.
Also, the subjects have not “served the will of the Crown” since the English Civil War and the Execution of Charles I in 1649. (Not to mention Oliver Cromwell, the Commonwealth, the Restoration, and the Glorious Revolution of 1688...)
Our Constitution is the only constitution on the planet that protects its citizenry from the government.
At least it would if we still had our republic.
