They fail to mention vitamin D levels. I would bet it the single most obvious variable.
“They fail to mention vitamin D levels.”
...do you know if D3 is as effective? Or is it the same thing?
I am currently down with a head cold, I don’t expect COVID, despite being on a year-plus regimen including 6000 IU of vitamin D. I have had other lesser illnesses I have shaken off, and thought my new look at vitamins was helping me.
It may be, as I am recovering in about 4-5 days, but I had a fever for a day, despite the vitamins.
I would like to think that vitamin D was a silver bullet, but I also now know that it won’t prevent viral infection. Perhaps it is substantially aiding recovery, but that can’t be proven by just my case.
COVID should act like any other cold virus, I would think.
I've been taking Vitamin D supplements daily for the past 20 years of my life, well before this pandemic nonsense ever started. I also eat well and spend plenty of time outdoors (with no sun screen).
I suspect that this is why I have never come down with the COVID, despite taking no precautions, not being "vaccinated", not masking up unless it is absolutely mandatory (like at a hospital) and not worrying at all about social distancing. During the past two years I've ridden public transportation, attended Trump rallies, worked in NYC.
For some reason, everybody wants to pooh-pooh Vitamin D. So far, I am not personally aware of anybody getting the COVID who had proper Vitamin D levels. If I ask somebody who did get it about Vitamin D, I never get a straight answer. They are quick to dismiss that it is even a relevant question. Many think it is conspiracy stuff to tie lack of Vitamin D to COVID.
Strange.
I started taking Vitamin D and Zinc after reading an article from a doctor who espoused the value shortly after COVID started. His point was colds run rampant in the winter not due to close contact but due to lack of sunlight/Vitamin D. I got COVID in mid September, but it was a really mild version. Told my doctor it didn’t rank in my top 20 colds/flus that I can recall. A couple weeks ago I had a nasty sinus infection so I started some antibiotics that I had and knocked it down in a couple days. While I believe that Vitamin D can help and I’ll continue to take it, I’m still up in the air about the value.
