I admit I saw this elsewhere but I thought it might be a good thing to put here because honestly I look and listen to songs people post. I am always entertained and it opens my mind to many different avenues of musical tastes I have not known before. I hope ones like this column.
If forgotten about that one. Beautiful.
Possibly my least favorite song of all time
Aggrandizing murder, graft, immorality, and corruption, all in the space of less than 3 minutes.
It’s disgusting.
“God’s Own Drunk”, by Jimmy Buffett

Live version.
We would listen to this album while partying back in college. I can still remember most of the lyrics - much to the amusement of my older brother.
Funny - I don’t care for Buffett except for this live album.
Don’t forget “Leader of the Pack.”
There are tons of trucker story songs. Don’t know the artists (and I’m leaving out the afore-mentioned CW McCall) but here are a few...
Phantom 309
Hello, I’m A Truck
Teddy Bear
The Ballad of the White Knight
30,000 Pounds of Bananas - Harry Chapin
Bay City Rollers: Saturday Night and Rock n Roll Love Letter.
That picture gives a whole new meaning to row roe your boat.
I’m not huge on buffet. In the AF at sat night parties we’d do Jimmy Buffet sing alongs. It was just shallow enough for drunk junior officers to be cynical about cheesiness and have a blast.
Neat!
Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells a Story
What? No Dolly Parton songs? No “Coat of Many Colors?”, “Apple Jack”, or “Two Doors Down”? (The only ones I can name...)
Heh. Perhaps it was the party rather than the album that made it so much fun! A bunch of college guys drinking and singing along.
“So honey .. why don’t we get drunk ... and screw!”
“My Elusive Dreams”
I like the rendition by Glen Campbell and Bobbie Gentry (although she does go flat sometimes). They’re smooth together.
RE: “Billy has many story songs”
Another one: “Billy, Don’t Be a Hero” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qndq4pYqgk8
Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers The Last Parade Live at the Grand Ole Opry Opry
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prlQx2-6rJY
Theme from “Gilligan’s Island”.
Close second...theme from “The Beverley Hillbillies”.
How could you F’ers (Freepers) miss these?
Also, Rush’s “2112” is a story everyone here should know about or listen to:

We’ve taken care of everything
The words you hear the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes.
It’s one for all and all for one
We work together common sons
Never need to wonder how or why.
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers
Fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life
Are held within our walls
Look around this world we made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the Brotherhood of Man
Oh what a nice contented world!
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand.
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers
Fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life
Are held within our walls
“One more minute with you” - Weird Al Yankovic
