If the government could arbitrarily double the taxes of the unvaccinated, as Rhode Island Democrats recently proposed, there would be nothing it could not do.
Though they subsequently backed away from the proposal, Rhode Island Democrats recently put forth a bill that would have punished the parents of children who were not vaccinated against COVID-19. Had the measure been enacted, it would have financially crippled these parents by doubling their personal income tax. As a further kick in the pants, it would have also required parents of unvaccinated offspring to pay a monthly fine of $50.
State Senator Samuel Bell was the lead legislator backing the bill, which would have mandated that all Rhode Island residents, workers, and taxpayers submit to a COVID-19 vaccination-- as well as any and all subsequent boosters that the state’s director of the department of health shall have required, apparently in perpetuity -- or else be subjected to pecuniary purgatory.

I bet there are many leftist politicians itching to do this for all unvaccinated.
I’m no lawyer, but this sounds illegal.
With all the proof that the Vaccine is bad ,would these bastards be held accountable ?
“I’m no lawyer, but this sounds illegal.”
Here’s my take from experience with taxing authorities. They do not issue refunds. Something can be ruled illegal, but the taxing authorities rarely return any money collected. Any return of money requires a separate ruling and those are very specific. Joe Blow gets his money back because he’s the one who sued. Generally speaking, it is not worth the cost of suing as the take is too small. Those huge judgements you sometimes read about are news for the very reason that they are so rare.
Even though a lot of taxes should be unconstitutional, a discriminatory tax like this would definitely get challenged.
You can’t just arbitrarily double someones taxes, as most taxes are (said to be) associated with various civil/government costs. So if your schools and roads are funded by taxes, then what does the vaccination status and any associated costs have to do with them?
We’re no longer a republic.
As long as thats the case, legal is whatever Deep State says it is.
Thank you for your comment.
There’s that “Living Constitution” again for ye...
If’n there is no Unconstitutionality for anything, no matter how arbitrary, then there is no Constitution at all.
Democrats repeatedly show they already live in a “Post-Constitutional” world.
Unconstitutional! in normal times...
however, in these insane times, who knows.
It is whatever the black robed men/women claim
it to be.
Something like a National Retail Sales Tax / Fair Tax would fix this. Amend the Constitution to abolish income tax and fund the government by tariffs and sales tax. No more fear of using taxation as either a weapon or a method of buying votes.
Yeah, that fortune cookie about interesting times has come to fruition.
Last word's of the tyrant..
The most insane thing about the double tax is that a Democrat thought it was a good idea to punish the unvaccinated. Dems instinctually want to coerce free people into submission. It’s disgusting that the unvaccinated are being persecuted as lepers and blamed for the spread of the virus. All Dems are commies.
The vaccine don’t keep you from getting it. And they are still trying to force people to get it. Is there any proof that getting the vaccine helps at all.
Nope. Absolutely none, unless you count absurd “studies” and unprovable assertions (“their ‘COVID’ would have been much worse” or “they would have died even sooner” if they hadnt’t gotten the vax).
Pfizer says it has helped them quite a bit.
Evil politicians aren’t concerned with legality. Laws are for little people.
A little James Otis remix…
Taxation without vaccination is tyranny!
LOL
