Meanwhile, food prices in the U.S. are rising at historic rates, while prices for commodities like wheat and corn are at their highest levels in a decade. What’s more, the U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts that food-at-home prices will see an increase of up to 4% by the end of 2022.
“It’s particularly severe because we are just coming out of a recovery from a two-and-a-half-year pandemic that had severe implications on the prices of goods and services as well as the price of commodities,” according to Johanna Mendelson-Forman, adjunct professor at the American University in the School of International Service.
Despite the prospect of continued rising prices, however, experts don’t expect food shortages to occur in the United States.
“It’s important to realize that the U.S. doesn’t import very much from Ukraine,” explained Joseph Glauber, a senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute.
“We may see some shelves that are empty for various kinds of food products like we have for a while now as we recover from the pandemic,” said Scott Irwin, chair of agricultural marketing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. “But I can say with some real confidence that in the United States, the average consumer is not going to see a shortage of bread because of what’s going on in Ukraine.”

Absolutely... Make that clear to the kids. We did and they are all on top of the “come back home and be safe” concept. :)

Lol! Right! These idiots are going to raise the max ethanol to 15% so to get the price of gasoline down a few cents. Meanwhile, by using grain for auto fuel instead of opening up petroleum availability the price of cereals, bread, animal feed will go up. Democrats are dumb as a sack of rocks.
Thank you to Sister K for her input. I have not tried this yet. But my neighbor who told me about it grew up on a Chicken/Egg farm and said it worked well to almost two years of storage. But he did share that the second year they are better served for baking and such rather than scrambled like fresh.
But here is the deal, in a SHTF situation you are going to have to throw “taste” out the door. “Still edible” no matter what it tastes like will be the fine line of survival or not. Can’t have your cake and eat it too in a true survival situation...
Pigs will eat anything to include these pigs. These fat slobs will be crying on Twitter in 24 hours during a shortage. In 72 hours, they will demand house to house searches for twinkies, Doritos, and anything that can feed the 40% obese + 30% totalitarian pricks. Be ready to go down swinging.
I am going to give it a test because I do have Chickens. But personally we already make homemade pasta with eggs and Flour. Dry it good and vacuum pack it, and you are good to go for several years storage.
” Egg glassing is Sodium silicate
I tried that years ago and it was a stinking failure.
The eggs continued their biological process, all the way into decomposition.
I would not invest too much into this.”
We are talking about Lime soaked storage, I do know Egg Glass doesn’t work well. In fact... That us how the preserve our current “fresh” eggs that can be 8 months old...
Yup :-)
In our area it is going up.
The price of feed is rising and no matter how many tricks you have to stretch your feed certain supplements are required and they have almost doubled in price.
it wasn’t even an offensive taste problem
the eggs quietly decayed inside their pretty shells
when we cracked them open, they were black, runny and extremely stinky
if I were to put up eggs, I would dehydrate
but good luck to y’all
Uh, those price tags are in Sterling…
Anyone hear of lime/egg preservation of eggs?

I’ve heard if you lightly coat fresh eggs with mineral oil they can last up to 6 months. (Although I’ve never tried it myself.)

Thanks.
Folks... If you can afford the time and effort get Chickens/Ducks... Now before they outlaw possession of Chickens. The agenda is to slowly starve us to death. Stay one step ahead of it...

Out law chickens and ducks, it wouldn’t bother me a bit personally. The last time I ate chicken or duck was 1955. I hated to eat the vile stuff. I was 10 years old, my mom told me that I didn’t have to eat it any more.
Of course I would hate the loss of freedom of others to put whatever garbage in their mouths they want to.
Shortages on shelves are almost all due to shortage of packaging material and lack of transportation workers and warehousing/stocking help. The food isn’t really the problem.

W-Ms around here are paying new hires $20-$22 per hour and new truck drivers $110,000 per year.
Somebody has to pay for that and it ain’t W-M.
On the other hand, my Wal Mart stock is doing quite well.
Go Wal-Mart, go!
Americans aren’t fat - they’re famine prepared.
Food shortages yes, starvation no. We are already seeing food shortages. And no one said any of the poor will be starving as they will be taken care of by government cheese. Its the dumb ass middle class that pays for everything that wont wake up to the madness.
🤣 That explains the excess 30 pds - I am preparing.
