Here’s why food shortages are unlikely to occur in the U.S.
CNBC ^ | APR 20 2022 | Nathaniel Lee

Posted on 04/20/2022 3:15:41 PM PDT by BenLurkin

Meanwhile, food prices in the U.S. are rising at historic rates, while prices for commodities like wheat and corn are at their highest levels in a decade. What’s more, the U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts that food-at-home prices will see an increase of up to 4% by the end of 2022.

“It’s particularly severe because we are just coming out of a recovery from a two-and-a-half-year pandemic that had severe implications on the prices of goods and services as well as the price of commodities,” according to Johanna Mendelson-Forman, adjunct professor at the American University in the School of International Service.

Despite the prospect of continued rising prices, however, experts don’t expect food shortages to occur in the United States.

“It’s important to realize that the U.S. doesn’t import very much from Ukraine,” explained Joseph Glauber, a senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute.

“We may see some shelves that are empty for various kinds of food products like we have for a while now as we recover from the pandemic,” said Scott Irwin, chair of agricultural marketing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. “But I can say with some real confidence that in the United States, the average consumer is not going to see a shortage of bread because of what’s going on in Ukraine.”

Wake me up when we actually have a food shortage. This might be the answer to our obesity problem.

HFCS is in most packaged foods. 14 times more fattening than the sugar it replaces.

High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a liquid sweetener made from cornstarch. It is made by breaking down corn into molecules of glucose (a type of sugar). Half the glucose molecules are then chemically changed into fructose (another type of sugar – but sweeter).

Is High Fructose Corn Syrup man made? Image result for how is HFCS made? High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is an artificial sugar made from corn syrup. Many experts believe that added sugar and HFCS are key factors in today's obesity epidemic ( 1 , 2 ).Sep 27, 2019

Studies show that high fructose corn syrup increases your appetite and it promotes obesity more than regular sugar. “High fructose corn syrup also contributes to diabetes, inflammation, high triglycerides, and something we call non-alcoholic fatty liver disease,” says Dr.Dec 1, 2020

HFCS was widely embraced by food formulators, and its use grew between the mid-1970s and mid-1990s, principally as a replacement for sucrose. This was primarily because of its sweetness comparable with that of sucrose, improved stability and functionality, and ease of use.Dec 1, 2008

Aw, c’mon man! Remember, they said ‘two years to flatten the curve’. It’s just us that thought they meant ‘two weeks to flatten the curve’.

Been there... Ate pigeons to survive when city folk detested them...

Meat eaters will eat meat in whatever form they can find it.. They need to realize this... And quick... Before “vegan meal” takes on a whole new definition.

I wouldn’t trust CNBC if they told me the sun rises in the East. However, I do trust our beloved President, Joe Biden, and he said we are going to have food shortages. Did I miss where CNBC explained why he was wrong?

Now I’m convinced we will have food shortages. I wasn’t sure until I saw this article quoting the experts. Whenever a liberal starts quoting experts you know they are lying through their teeth.

Dude, chill. It was humor. I will have to start adding emoji’s. Come up for air, look around. They are not trying to kill us. It is called a nudge. You’ll see, it will be okay.

When free people anticipate high prices, they realize it presents an opportunity to profit, and they find a way. The SJW’s, of course, will be aghast, but which is more noble; to fulfill people’s needs, or peddle luxuries to people who don’t need them? We should respect those who feed, clothe and provide us with shelter, and not resent it when they prosper. Only thieves and politicians take what they haven’t earned.

And inflation will be transitory, increased gas prices is Putin’s fault, and those that are streaming across the border is a seasonal thing.

Once the “experts” tell you there will be no food shortages, your best bet is to buy what you can now while you can.

Biden already committed some of our grain to developing nations. So yes we will have shortages. Also, there are fertilizer shortages. What will the animals be fed if there is less grain?. Chickens are being culled due to disease. It won’t be as bad as other nations, but things won’t be great.

It could be worse.

Up here in PRC (Politically Repressive Canada), Prime Mistake True-dolt has apparently decided to add pickup trucks to the ‘gas guzzler’ tax, to the tune of $1-4,000 per truck.

The fact that many trucks are used for business purposes by small entrepreneurs means absolutely nothing to True-dolt! The fact that per capita, there are more pickup trucks in Alberta than any other province, by a large margin, is just GRAVY to True-dolt! He HATES Alberta, and many people in Alberta hate him/her/it, in return.

Tuck Frudeau!

Problem will be fertilizer — and cost.

It will likely be more/cheaper supply of pasta and potatoes...not vegetables.

Obesity is a disease of poverty and food people can afford -— fatty and processed meats + pasta, and potatoes.

Its a lie:

repost from another thread:

According to an earlier commenter, the Biden Regime Run By The Unelected has declared a halt to rail shipment of all grain and fertilizer products. Regime effort to starve infants, animals and everyone else. Putin’s Fault.

Shipments already contracted will be delayed and no further orders will be taken by the railroads who have declared force majeure in effect.

fertilizer prices per acre before Biden = $200
fertilizer prices per acre with Biden = $1200
fertilizer prices per acre with Biden’s order = $5000, if you can get it.

Sorry I don’t have the link. But it is somewhere in this morning’s posts
