"Eleanor Rigby", is one of those love/hate songs by The Beatles.
You tell a person, that you like it, the other person says they hate it.

I’ve always liked Eleanor Rigby. How McCartney thought up those lyrics is mind boggling.

I think it’s about scrambled eggs.

Rubber Soul was released in 1966, 56 years ago. Not 50.

I meant Revolver, not Rubber Soul.

Wasn't that Yesterday, not Eleanor Rigby?
To: DallasBiff
Like John and Paul both claimed to have written it. It is one of two (?) I believe they ‘disagreed’ on. Or as George Martin once said, it was a John kind of song, and inspiration counts, right ?

I think it’s about scrambled eggs. That’s what McCartney originally called “Yesterday.”

Incredibly beautiful and haunting song,,,certainly a unique song for the time. It has aged so well, as a lot of the Beatles music has done.

..."All the lonely people
Where do they all come from
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong"...
Questions a 7 year-old couldn't begin to answer, but ponder anyway because it was The Beatles who made you think about it.

Went to see the NEW Beatle movie when it came out.
I didn’t know that it was a CARTOON! I left shortly after.

Are you sure? From where I’m sitting that seems pretty near impossible.

The Beatles were all “20-somethings” when they disbanded and wrote/released (on average) an album every 6 months.
During “Revolver”, their ages were “only” 26, 26, 24, 23
Their great trilogy...
Rubber Soul - released Dec,1965
Revolver - released Aug,1966
Sgt Pepper - released May,1967

Prefer the Spike Jones / Doodles Weaver version.
