Astronomy Picture of the Day - Stars and Globules in the Running Chicken Nebula

Explanation: The eggs from this gigantic chicken may form into stars. The featured emission nebula, shown in scientifically assigned colors, is cataloged as IC 2944 but known as the Running Chicken Nebula for the shape of its greater appearance. Seen toward the bottom of the image are small, dark molecular clouds rich in obscuring cosmic dust. Called Thackeray's Globules for their discoverer, these "eggs" are potential sites for the gravitational condensation of new stars, although their fates are uncertain as they are also being rapidly eroded away by the intense radiation from nearby young stars. Together with patchy glowing gas and complex regions of reflecting dust, these massive and energetic stars form the open cluster Collinder 249. This gorgeous skyscape spans about 60 light-years at the nebula's estimated 6,500 light-year distance.

In the chicken’s defense, it does look like the sky is falling in the upper left hand corner, or their is a giant orange black death nebula, or soul eater or the Nothing, or just something bad and probably evil.

Was the chicken crossing the road? Why was the road there? Was it part of a bridge to nowhere? Should we charge the chicken a toll? What came first, the chicken or the egg or the road for the chicken to cross? Answer me that DannyTN!

I dream of a day when a chicken can cross the road
without having it’s motives questioned...

Yes, the chicken was crossing the road, that’s what chickens do.
The road was there so the chicken could cross it. That’s the purpose of roads.
Charge a toll, is it an African or English Chicken?
Definitely the Chicken came first. There would be no need for the road without the chicken. If the egg had come first, it would have died for lack of nurturing.

Why did the chicken cross the border?

To avoid the draft.

I think the chicken was crossing the road to get a double cheeseburger. The reason I know it was a cheeseburger? That is all there is:

What is the only thing the chicken could get?

Are you sure there wasn't free chicken feed on the other side?
