I've never read the Bible. Hardly ever went to church so I have a problem with this. I didn't think anyone could make Sal Mineo walk in just a few minutes. Make the blind man see and bring Lazarus back to life? Come on. A thief steals a coat and Jesus tells the victim to offer more. Whatever happened to thou shall not steal?
Here's what I'm getting at. Too many people want nothing more than to be led by a messiah. Walk on water and I'll follow you too. Doesn't mean I have to believe someone who claimed it happened.
Once you’ve met Him, you know He is real...very, very real. There’s an old hymn I love that says, “You ask me how I know he lives...he lives within my heart.” There’s really no way to explain it...you are just very, very aware that He is real and that He cares deeply. I know He lives.
We sang that hymn yesterday in church.
Msgr. Knox says he got the idea from a Trappist monk who said he received it as a revelation (with the caveat that he doesn't wish to go against anything the Church teaches :-) )
It's an amazing story, very well written, gives you something to meditate on. Suffice it to say that all is not lost, not ever.
And yes, there are also other “holy texts” far older than the Christian Bible that are still published today: E.g., Vedas, the Upanishads, the Purānas, the Mahābhārata, the Rāmāyana, and the Āgamas.
I have never heard of any of those books but I have known about the Bible all of my life. I am a new congregant so I’m still learning.
Thank you for your assessment.
I always liked this movie.

The good things in life are free. That includes His love for us. He’s always knocking. All we have to do is open the door.
Thank you for your reply. I have seen enough low-budget Christian films. Not certain that I want the hubby to sit through another poor recommendation just to please me.
Thank you for your evaluation. I will have to think about it.
Jesus of Nazareth is a finely crafted film. Thank you for your response.
Here is my recommendation. Watch a few of the first episodes and decide that way. Each season is 8 episodes. There have been 2 seasons completed with a number of seasons still to come. I think the plan is 5 or 6 in total. There are 2 scenes in the second season which to me are masterful and well worth it. That tells me this show is snowballing into a better and larger thing. It has been noted many have come to faith from watching this show so there is that as well.
I will ask my husband what he would like. Thanks!
Choose wisely.
Or not.. but you will only get what you deserve, not what you want.
Be careful, some people are about to get smote.
If you are just casting aspersions, you really dont want answers.
Some people just want to bitch and complain. And then bitch and complain about it.
I understand that prayers for Grace and Redemption may be hard. Especially when standing and shouting with a clenched fist, ranting against the heavens.
Me and Jesus have one thing in common: I love you all.
I don’t believe that for more than a minute.
[[Has any other historical occurrence ever convinced so many people to believe and had the staying power of 2000 years, like it happened yesterday? ]]
Sadly though the mockers will claim it is nothing more than ‘mass hysteria’ - no proof is enough for them-
not to mention that those religions that were quoted aren’t known by billions of people like the bible is- Those other holy texts didn’t have a God that was sent to be crucified on our behalf- Nor did they do the miracles or have prophecies- over 600 many which have already come completely true, with some in the future yet to come true-
You are in great hands being a convert to Christianity- God bless as you grow and learn-
Your pastor, however, should know better than to make such arrogant and factually inaccurate claims!
If you want to maintain an impartial outlook, just try remembering that there are millions of Muslim, Hindu, etc. clergymen out there preaching the same thing!
"Just look around you! Everyone you know and see around you is Muslim/Hindu! And many of them are very good, pious, and wise men! It thus stands to reason that the Muslim/Hindu faith is the correct one! And our holy books are longer / older / more historical than the others!"
Only in the case of Science is it possible to settle (most) disputes and differences of opinion by performing actual physical experiments and then examining the results.
In the case of religion, the clergy employ a number of deceitful tactics (Straw-Manning other religions / Science; Steel-Manning their own peculiar little cult; demanding that you abandon rationality to "Look into your heart! Then you'll know that our little bizarre splinter sect is the right one!")
