A Russian state TV presenter has expressed his fury over the sinking of the country’s warship Moskva demanding answers on how it managed to go down.Russia-1 anchor Vladimir Solovyov, who has been sanctioned for his support of Putin, criticised the Navy over the incident during a nationwide broadcast.
He said: ‘I am furious about what happened to the Black Sea Fleet’s flagship, Moskva. I am simply furious.
‘And yes, we say it was quite old and went through repairs, and, yes, this series of ships has vulnerabilities. I get it. ‘But tell me this: how did you manage to lose it? Explain me, why the hell you were in that particular area of the Black Sea at that time?’
Mr Solovyov questioned why there was no system in place to mitigate chaos in the event of a fire.
He said: ‘I don’t care what exactly happened – if indeed [it was] the two Neptune missiles as the Ukrainians said. Since when was a combat ship scared of a missile strike, since it has a defence system? Was something not activated?....

Here are some reports on the state of the ship.

They’re just letting this guy voice the outrage because they know the Russian people are shocked.
But the whole Russian attitude is insane. None of this would have happened if they didn’t invade.
Their Navy seems to be over-rated just like the Army. As evidenced by them being in a current stalemate with a country 1/4 their population. (to be sure Western arms deliveries has something to do with that)
I was going to say they had her too close to land but on looking at a map she was closer to the center of the]at part of the Black Sea. I guess there is no safe distance in a relatively small water area with modern missiles.
Taking over is always harder than defending.
This dude better have plans for a post Pooptin regime... Vlad’s not long for this world.
Maybe if they didn’t attack Ukraine in the first place?
The russians are looking a lot like hussein's vaunted republican guard a few days after the start of Desert Storm.
Seems we have people here who don’t believe this was sunk by the Ukrainians. I believe it was, but also that there is a enough misinformation out there to be understanding on how they would believe otherwise.
My feedback from reliable sources supports this. This is a complete disaster for Russia.
Russia is looking right about now like the mythical kingdom of Lower Slobovia that Al Capp parodied in his cartoons back in the early ‘60s.
To summarize the whole landscape of a ‘threat’...take whatever exists on paper, and multiply it by 50-percent, and you get the true threat situation.
Looking back at WW II...they only advanced against the Germans because they threw an enormous amount of manpower at the Germans, and Hitler was unprepared for the harsh winter. Beyond 1945....they were never on the same page as the US/NATO...never our equal.
If I were the Ukraine and wanted to really flip this...I’d take every single anti-ship missile possible, and try to sink the whole of the Black Sea fleet over the next ten days.
That would be a good approach if one wanted to start a nuclear war.
Who knows? Hell, it could have been the Ukes, the EU, the US, or rust that did it in. Mix a bit of aluminum with iron oxide and ignite. Fun stuff.
Given the state of things we've seen so far, are we even certain those birds could fly?
With the Uks kicking their butts, it’s a good thing the Russkis never tried to take on America.

Interesting thread by this ChrisO. In the end it was cost-cutting to line pockets IMHO as he suggested could have been the case.
;0)
Nobody “LET” the Moskva be sunk. It was the result of the proper tool being applied to the job (sinking it) with the required efficiency and the failure of corrective attempts.
I watched a video tracking the Ukrainian missile program. It’s brand new. Estimates are four missiles delivered. Two were test fired before the war. If they fired two at the ship that’s the whole lot.
The Russian attitude is they are not invading, they are liberating...
