Getting washed by an eight footer feels like being drawn & quartered. I cannot begin to imagine what being trashed by a 115 foot tall wave would feel like.

The vertical drop is mind blowing.

Crazy. Amazing how they our run the wave and don’t get swallowed up by it. Now if he falls off half way down what happens. Does he get thrown off the top or I guess just swim towards the top if you can figure out which way is up.

Yikes!
Reminds me of a scene in the Larry Niven/Jerry Pournelle book Lucifer’s Hammer where surfers were riding the tsumani created by the meteor strike.

Imagine adjusting your balance to accommodate that kind of speed and knowing what will happen if you set the wrong line.

If he falls off, all the force of physics comes into play, including the weight of a wave that is 115 feet tall.

Dealing with that one wave would be bad enough. It’s what’s coming behind it that’s really sickening. Without the safety guys on jet skis to tow you out it’s certain death.

"...the Larry Niven/Jerry Pournelle book Lucifer’s Hammer..." I read that many years ago. Pretty good book.
.
PS: I am a child of the mid '60s myself.
The 60th birthday mark is not too far off.
