I looked at the Generac once since they can run on propane. Is that what you refer to? My parents had one installed when Dad had his stroke since he was in an electric bed and had other electric life saving things going. Electric service in this area is awful! We spend a lot of time in the dark.

We have a propane emergency heater that is inside but plumbed to a portable tank outside. If we had a propane generator I could buy a large tank and have it installed and filled as necessary. The old 5000 watt portable generator we have is way too heavy for me to move around even with the wheel kit on it. We’ve had it since around 1994.

Propane generators are the way to go. DH has a kit to change one of his gas generators to propane. Clean, no fumes, quiet, more efficient and cheaper to run.

I have a Generac portable, 9,000 Watts. It’ll run everything at once, even my pool. But that’s because my water heater is propane. Electric water heaters gobble wattage like mad.

There’s conversion kits from gas to propane, I plan on doing it this year if I can get to it with everything else I have going on.
