I have a Generac portable, 9,000 Watts. It’ll run everything at once, even my pool. But that’s because my water heater is propane. Electric water heaters gobble wattage like mad.

There’s conversion kits from gas to propane, I plan on doing it this year if I can get to it with everything else I have going on.

I’m very interested in the Generac. We don’t need anything huge. We only need to run the well, freezer, refrigerator, etc. With the propane heater for emergency heat a winter outage wouldn’t be too bad in S. Tennessee. Summer would be bad, but we’d survive it with all the windows open.

I make my own dog food and have been dehydrating a lot of it. I keep it in the freezer to make it last longer so even if we lost the freezer the dog food would stay good. I plan to dehydrate and can as much as possible this summer for that reason. I normally freeze most of the garden goods but I think it would be wise to preserve using other methods now.
