This is tragic, if the guy ran out of gas, why didn't he call, AAA, especially on an interstate?

There are signs, saying pedestrians are not allowed on interstates.

Well, in the above link, the ESPN reporter, automatically and basically said the dump truck driver is guilty.

That’s nuts! 595 5here is a fat, wide, dragstrip. 80mph, 30 feet between cars.

A dump truck! Bad way to go. But quick.

I would NEVER try to cross an Interstate highway. Especially someone who is well to do, should just call up his insurance company to get road service.

People don’t always realize how fast vehicles can move. They can be a mile away, but seemingly just in front of you in seconds.

Homicide investigation?? Why?
But...if there is onboard documentation or other indication that the driver was speeding, they will probably stick it to him even though the fault seems to lie with the bad judgment of the deceased.
When a nobody in a dump truck smashes an important person, well...someone has to pay.

Ever driven down a street and had a black guy or gal simply step off the curb right in front of you, causing you to stomp the brakes? How about walking in the middle of the road, trying to take up as much room as possible? I have a feeling something similar may have happened here, and the driver couldn’t stop in time.

This is either the beauty of FR or the craziness of it.

Stuff happens. He got stuck and tried to cross the highway. A 24 year old athlete thinks they’re indestructible. Nobody expects to die.
Maybe he was drunk or high we’ll find out.

But we have people here talking about suicide, drugs, police favoring celebrities, everyone knows not to cross that highway etc.

Stuff happens.

With Biden’s gas prices $20 doesn’t get you as far as it used to.

he was killed around exit 10A on I-595, westbound side.

I drove that area a lot for a few years. That intersection where I-75 (alligator alley) joins w/ 595 and 95 is particularly exciting as everyone coming off alligator alley has been doing 90+ mph for the previous hour+.

why he was not in his car is the big question. that’s one area you wouldn’t want to leave your vehicle.

then again... getting hit by a dump truck doing 70+ seems like the best solution if you wanted to make a ‘quick exit’

Hey Tony!! We need to borrow the truck!

Really??

I don’t follow tv football, but i have to ask: “how well did the team do last year? Were there any games that went to the end and then lost?”

Some way to go .... be taken out by the trash!

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?

A: To show the armadillo that it was possible.

Haskins was a college QB at Ohio State. He had an epic first season in 2018. He broke the all time Big 10 records for Passing Yards and Passing Touchdowns.

After one year as a starting QB in college, he declared for the NFL draft in 2019 and was picked by the Washington Redskins.

Haskins was drafted #15 in the First Round of the NFL draft in 2019.

He received a four year contract for $14.4 million.

As a First Round choice, his $14.4 million is guaranteed, unless he significantly violates the basic rules of an NFL employment contract.

If Haskins lived in Florida, his take home pay for four years would be in the $8 million range.

Haskins played poorly for the Redskins for two years and was criticized for his work ethic and conditioning. The Redskins released him from their roster in late 2020, but they are still responsible for the last two years of his contract.

Haskins was picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021. If the Steelers are paying less than his contract, the Redskins have to make up the difference.

At the time of his death, Haskins was the third string QB for Pittsburgh.

Even though Haskins is dead, I will speculate that Pittsburgh and/or Washington still have to pay his fourth year salary, which is probably in the $2-$3 million range.

Used to be a Steelers fan, before they started kneeling to the commie god, blm and their abuse of Villenueva.

Haven't watched since.

Don't even know who this is.

Probably drugs, alcohol or mental issues.

He found out that even he can’t outrun a dump truck that is driving perpendicular to the direction you are running.

He didn’t have to call AAA we have roadrangers that assist motorists. To get an idea what 595 looks like think Daytona speedway, only difference is the cars aren’t painted as nice.
